Dundee Utd v morton part 3

Well last game against Morton of this season and the biggest date. Hopefully we can get a good crowd and get right behind them from the start. Wont be an easy game but one we should win.

Whats your team?

Re: Dundee Utd v morton part 3

Same team as last night- with the second half's crisper passing.

On another note, I've read the top league side which has to play in the play off final will be 'fresher': hopefully we have five games yet to play, and so will the Premiership team, which will have a day less to recover.

So if anything, the Championship side should be better rested.

Duffy saying after the game that they've got to go for it. No point in being cautious as they have to win.
Fully expect them to throw everything at us.
I'd be tempted to stay 4-4-2, let Morton come at us and use Murrays pace to exploit the gaps they leave.

Good shout Weedude.

After last night's wicked finish in front of 666 traveling Arabs his confidence will be up too. He looked in a good frame of mind in his after match interview.

Hope it's no back to blootering it oor the Shed😉

Re: Dundee Utd v morton part 3

Last night they were 1 up at half time, look what happened next.

We're 1 up at the real time, we've got to keep going as second half cos it ain't over yet !

"Willo Flood was the driving force behind a tremendous second half fight back and is tonight’s Man Of the Match."

Any praise here for Flood? We've been quick enough to slag him lately. Well done, wee fella....

Yes if its due, wasn't there so can't say. Think comment came from DUFC website and they have made some weird decisions - e.g. Nicholls so my juries out

Re: Dundee Utd v morton part 3

From what I mind, all the running and tackling and short passing which was failing in the first half came off for him in the second, and to his credit, Flood doesn't hide or give up easily.

Re: Dundee Utd v morton part 3

Has to be the same team, there's not exactly loads of options.  Until Frasers fit, if he is, then that's the team.

I just hope they don't go out and play for a draw, if they do it'll end in defeat.

Re: Dundee Utd v morton part 3

same team and formation that started the second half fir me.

anybody else notice that just before and even during the players warming up on Tuesday, Fraser was speaking with Ray&Fitness coach then went on his ane doing what looked like quite a tough running session, bench Friday perhaps half an hour?? with a view ti hopefully playing Falkirk? big boost if so IMO

Heaving because folk were queueing down the streets for tickets they didn't need as Utd didn't make it public there were cash gates. Would guess just under 7k here.

Re: Dundee Utd v morton part 3

It's gonna get nervy unless we can get a goal soon.  Should have had a pen for push on Murray.  A few shots, but not many (any?) on target.

Re: Dundee Utd v morton part 3

Brutal stuff.  Would be surprised if crowd as much as 6000.

Edit. Just noticed how full both top tiers are, I'm probably 1000 off with crowd prediction.

Re: Dundee Utd v morton part 3

Thought 1st half was a bit scrappy. I found it hard to watch. Morton had a couple oe coarner and free-kicks more than us which allowed them to put crosses inta the box, but most oe them weee fruitless, overhit and wasted. Think tgey only had 1 attempt fae Kudus which went roond the post. We had some no bad attempts. Couple fae Spittal, couple fae Big Mick, couple fae Murray, Andreu and Flood, but nane oe them got us the goal. Either nearies or saved or blocked.

2nd was much better.
Think Murdoch put the cross in, and ane oe the Morton players got on it, but didna clear it, and Murray side-swiped it in fae aboot 5 yards. No lang efter that, Kudus got in a haeder but it went over the bar. For aboot 5-10 mins efter that, we played some oe the best futba I've seen this Season.

2nd goal came oot oe the blue. Kuate collected the ba aboot 25 yards oot. He did his usual turnaboot, then went left moving toward the Fair Play. Heard abody sayin "Whar is he goin?" Then he just turns right and chops it right in. Think he should be called Karate.

3rd goal. Looked like Spittal runs inta the box. In a split second Big Mick is knocked doon in the box (looked like a stone-waller), and Murray cuts it back to Spittal who wallops it in.

Hae to admit, wisna expecting an aggregate score like that. Phuckin over the moon TBH. Think even Falkirk will be a but shocked by the scoreline.

Re: Dundee Utd v morton part 3

Great result, good 2nd half.  Terrific strike from Kuate, prob the best I've seen Simon Murray play for us, much tougher test next week tho.

Re: Dundee Utd v morton part 3

Similiar to Saturday past.

Pretty awful first half which they dominated.

Then steamrollered them 2nd half.

Another solid win at Tannadice on Tuesday and even i might start to feel confident about promotion.

In all the excitement, forgot to mention Karate's half-marathon fae the Shed doon to the ET to celebrate his goal, FAF.

Re: Dundee Utd v morton part 3

And i will give McKinnon some credit also.

Moving Murdoch to RB has been a good move as has bringing Kuate in beside Flood.

Re: Dundee Utd v morton part 3

Not the best first half but second half again much better. Kuate great goal brilliant.
