Water under the bridge if that's the case, surely, HH: but how could you possibly think that's true?

One of my best pals works with the Patrick Thistle chairman, he was the first person Jackie spoke too, he immediately advised him to bite his hand off.

Although it was a percentage of sales, the bonus was capped, as is typical in most bonus schemes.
Salary plus maximum bonus was less than houstons salary.
This was reported in the press at the time, I was also told it first hand by one of the amigos.

Re: Do you think

Tek, that might have been the course of events, but like you say, it's a perception.

HH, Jackie fell out with the Thistle chairman David Beattie in 2013, when he made a claim on the club for a promotion bonus even although he'd left the club second in the table, and Archibald took them into the promotion position.

Re: Do you think

McNamara fleeced the fuck out of us.  He's a fucking cunt.  We wouldnt be where we are today without a management team motivated by selling players to line their own fucking pockets.  You can make the argument that Thompson thought he was doing whats best for the Club or looking for an exit but you cant make the argument against Mcnamara being a greedy little cunt.

Tbf Thompson gave Macnamara a contract that made him risk averse (imo on purpose).

To some extent were dealing with unintended consequences here.

whether intended or not though, you have to admit the consequences were predictable.  The minute those rumors started making their way around the support, many of us were on here and elsewhere about what the consequences would ultimately be.

Best case scenario, Thompson was well intending and naive as fuck.

They must have made up again Pat, I see no reason why my mate would make it up. In fact he never stops going on about it.

Jackie couldn't accept bids for our players, only 1 person could do that. There was no reason or need to give the little cunt that clause.

Your mate probably never made it up.

But JM and DB certainly never made up, McNamara served legal papers on Thistle in May 2013, he was allegedly offered the enhanced contract with percentages by ST in season 2014-5 then says this about David Beattie in October last year.

“People don’t understand this side of it and the chairman has been very supportive of me. It’s something I wish I had earlier on in my managerial career.

http://www.deadlinenews.co.uk/2016/10/11/jackie-mcnamara-defends-bizarre-arrangement-manage-york-city-successor-sought/?

As I recall, John Colquhoun worked that contract out with ST: he really took a rise out the chairman, taking advantage of his position to get players to move to the agency he was involved with. Now Colquhoun has a company called Box Soccer, and a wee bit research shows Ryan Gauld and John Souttar prominent on the site home page, plus Ian Cathro. Colquhoun is an opportunist, who was a big part in dragging our club down, while Thompson was guilty of poor judgement.

But I don't want to argue about this, as it's gone now. If you want Thompson to leave, you have to have a viable alternative, rather than basing it on a tale your pal must have been told by David Beattie, who has no love for Stephen Thompson, for obvious reasons.

Was about to post something similar to HeggieHandshakes post.

Shite manager + contract agreed = blame

ST gave the contract and made a decision possibly feeling detached from reality on the opposite side of the world that blew us up and down a division.

That's a fair complaint. But like I say, it's gone now. It's a business, folk have to get past this huge mistake if relationships can be healed.

Nobody wants to buy the club.

Re: Do you think

Pat, I never at any time said I wanted him to leave based on a tale.

I want him to leave because he has absolutely ruined my Club, if you are asking??

I'll see my mate today, get the story confirmed.

Also, there is many reasons no one wants to buy the Club.

Re: Do you think

Not a fan of Jackie appointment at the time. Thought we were replacing an experienced manager with an untried novice whose only credentials were playing for Celtic and Scotland which didn't count in my book. Wasn't sure whether his limited "success" at Thistle was down to him either and suspect given how well Thistle have done since (wee club staying up), that credit should go to Archie & Co. It became clear after a wee while that Jackie was a football numptie and my (cynical) assessment now is that ST hired him for the firesale to get back the money his dad spent. A clever person could probably achieved a similar outcome albeit over a longer period without de-stabilising and relegating the team.

Bring back the (real) "United Way" not the kiddy-on Martin version
