Malky Mackay

See Malky Mackay has been appointed SFA Performance Director, amid some controversy.

Regarding the previous 'friendly banter'* which was judged as racist, homophobic and sexist, my own opinion is that everyone deserves a second chance (apart from if they cross me personally, of course).

Where I'm concerned is his lack of background for the post, as I saw him in the past more as a coach rather than an administrator. And I'm also a bit worried that he has (tenuous?) past connections with the present managers of the Glasgow twins, Rodgers and Warburton: is he in there to dance to a particular Glasgow beat? Will he be a rapid convert to, for example, colt sides in the lower leagues, and the streamlining of the academy system, to the detriment of United?

What do other folk think?

The League Managers' Association classed the texts as 'friendly banter'.

Re: Malky Mackay

I think the furore is a bit ott.

Everyone deserves a second chance.

Has no-one ever sent a dodgy text/joke to a friend?Course you have.

In this day and age some of the texts on your phone would get you fired from your job of made public.

I don't actually think he is racist or a homophobe.But that's just a hunch on my part,admittedly.

One thing though.

What does a 'Performance Director' actually do?What is his remit?

Re: Malky Mackay

He's just a thick cunt. He'll get found out that way. Incidentally, my wifes cousin used to wash his windows down South. He still stays  in a village between Aylesbury and Watford and according to the wifes cousin he is actually a decent guy. Canna be saying the stuff he has though in any day and age, especially in the public eye.

Re: Malky Mackay

Given the circumstances of what he said he had to be sacked at the time.

Deserves a second chance tho and Tek's right we've prob all said/text things that we shouldn't.

Really don't see how he's qualified for this job, but then again I think the jobs a load of shite so the SFA are seen to be trying to improve things while actually doing fuck all that improves the game and are taking the standards backwards in a hurry.

Re: Malky Mackay

He called a Malaysian a "chink" and also a Korean by the same?
I don't think that's racist, just thick as shit. If you're gonna be racist at least get the terminology correct  .
Agree with TheShed about him not being qualified, looks like another case of "jobs for the boys"

The role is SFA Performance Director which I believe is all about the technical side of the game and setting and implementing a strategy that will improve playing standards. I see that as a role for a coach not an administrator. Whether MM is the right coach remains to be seen.

He was overheard saying he was over the moon and was "heading out for a chinky to celebrate"! (joke :-) )

Like life in general it's all about the rich getting richer and the best getting better, nobody ever looks at the obvious question of how we reduce the gaps.
