Japanarab, once again this evening I’m out of internet circulation, so here are my three:
Did United have any noticeable profile in Japan as Kawashima helped us through the trap door last season?
Have you climbed Fuji?
Japan has a reputation for producing some weird and wacky TV programmes: which one, not on telly over here in Scotland, would you recommend for us to look up on, say, YouTube?

Good Q's Pat!
I'm going to have to go do some work tonight too, so might not be back.
A potted history of what you do for a living and how you came to be in Japan and whereabouts.
Similar to Pat, what's it like in an earthquake and how close are you to a nuclear reactor.
The Japanese are a wonderfully respectful nation, what Japanese custom should Sturgeon implement into Scot's Law to make Scotland a better place?
Look forward to your Jap's eye view!!!

Cheers Pat. I' ll add in what I told TEK earlier, it's my birthday do today so expect "interesting replies" lol. 4 am just now so I'll do my best and answer these before a couple of hours of sobering kip lol.
Kawashima wise: not really. Apart from a couple of paragraphs in the papers, not much. Much the same when Celtic were getting their knickers in a knot about Nakamura over here. Unless it's the Premiership nobody cares.
Never climbed Fuji. My mate (a fellow Arab up in Tokyo) did and had nothing but bad reports about it---although he's a chubster and nothing like my svelt self.
The TV thing is a total myth. I've never seen anything like the wacky shows you see on YouTube on normal Telly. They must all be on some crazy cable channel of some sort. For looking up on YouTube I'd try the "gay guy tries to make straight porn star come"-- that has the potential for crying laughter.

Hello FKT. Ended up in Japan in epic fashion. My sister moved to Sydney from Dundee as a 21 year old many moons ago. I finally decided to visit at the end of 2000. Planned to stay for a year. After two weeks I lost all my money--lost it to some Chinese pool sharks (next to Scruffy Murphy's Irish bar if you've ever been to Sydney)--- sisters advice was to go fruit picking. I ended up in Gundagai in the middle of southern Australia. That's where I met a Japanese girl. Decided after a day that I'd marry her and travelled the east coast of Australia with her. Her visa was running out and I headed to Japan with her for a week holiday---it was festival time there and was amazing. I headed back to Sydney then Dundee. She came to dundee for 6 months and we decided it would be easier for me to get teaching work in Japan over her getting nursing work (her job) in Dundee. So I planned to go for 9 months and give it a go---14 years later and I'm still here lol--I'm the principal or head teacher of a kids kindergarten now.
Earthquake wise, the big one was nowhere near us. I live in the south west on Shikoku island bit we get told numerous times we are due a big one. It's kinda second nature now. Only once have I felt the house shaking badly and it was pretty scary---especially with the mobile phones all going mad with the alarms. There's also no nuclear reactors near me.
Custom wise?? Just simple stuff that makes a nation friendlier. Everyone, strangers or friends acknowledge everyone. Might be a small thing but most people will say good morning to you in passing. (That could be a small town thing though---FarEastArab up in Tokyo might disagree)

I'll be offline later so will get my question in early - what's the most unusual place you've watched a united game on TV/online from?

Morning Kiwi. Like yourself, it's not easy is it. When I first came here there was literally nothing. I remember the 2005 cup final relying on text updates from Parisarab and a certain NA both from a certain "mad" forum updating me on it. Nowadays I usually watch on batmanstream if available although that's not nearly as often since the drop. Going back to the Celtic and Nakamura days--I managed to get the 3-3 game where Lee Miller scored. Watched it in a bar that I had bored the owner with tales of the shed for years before. Danced on his counter when that equalizer went in. He now has the white away strip with the orange diagonal on it hanging in his bar. Lol.

The Stone Roses.
Tears in the eyes when I saw them at FujiRock in 2012. I was near the front and almost next to the guy with the big inflatable smiley acieeed ball that you see on the Made of Stone docu. At one point I just kinda stopped, turned around to look at the crowd behind me and it was majestic---FujiRock is in the middle of a big ski resort in the mountains and couldn't have asked for more.

Today? Lol. Nah, not too bad now. Probably the worst was waking up in the drunk tank over here. The cell had glass walls and the bulb was half dead and flickering. I had no idea where I was at first and was pounding on the walls shouting help as I drunkenly thought I was in some "Saw movie" type situation. Sobered up pretty quick that day!!

Yes. Had many arguments with my folks who voted no.

The instrumental of Resurrection live is just unbelievable.

As an english teaching headmaster, have you ever taught Scots, Dundonian or Shed language to the wee folk?

Evening Arabnophobia.
Probably a fish supper or kebabs. I've purposely lost 2 stone over the last 3 months in preparation for my up coming trip home in two weeks. Haven't been home for 11 years and there's gonna be some amount of eating getting done. Small things like vinegar and Branston pickle will be getting tanned!!!

How often do you get back to dundee to visit relatives and see united?

I've shown the difference between dundonian and English a few times. My wee lad knows stuff like Dinna ken etc. The town I live in has its own slang too which is totally different to normal Japanese so me and friends sometimes compare. I'll speak pretty much standard English to most folk here. Spares me the effort of repeating myself(which is what I did when first here)

Evening MA.
First time home in 11 years in two weeks time. My folks came over here 6 years ago and I saw them and my sister in Sydney 4 years ago. Quite excited and nervous about the trip home in a fortnight. Due to the scheduling, there's not one home game during my time home either. Balls. The dream of taking the wee man to Tannadice for a game goes on. Might take him to watch St Johnstone pump the Fun while back.
