See it's being reported that there will be no cash turnstiles next week, but I'll bet the crowd is a few thousand below capacity. It'd be good if the club could think of a way round limiting spectators, as a simple cash gate in the Geo Fox lower would surely be worthwhile.

Fed spoke about this again last night with Colin Stewart and Jim Spence. Hopefully they'll take our concerns on board but unfortunately David Southern thinks the current way is the only way.

Cheers b&t. Of course, David Southern probably thinks it's quite normal to queue up twice to get in to an event.
I'm thinking of fans like my son, who doesn't always know his shifts or even when he'll finish his work. So rather than commit, he'll probably just not think about going. There will be other fans with situations which mean they decide on the day.

Totally agree. Unfortunately it's gonna get worse as spfl and police Scotland want every game all ticket

Daft idea and suffocating the chance of new fans getting into it.
B&T, I've wondered about the reasons behind the decisions by those like Southern that cause fan upset towards the club and him.
Give me an opinion please. Hard to judge fae the outside. Is he over influenced by trying to fix those who complain and/or being compliant to the authorities wishes than pushing for what we'd call progression?
What, even as a guess are his priorities?

Anyone who thinks making someone queue twice instead of once when the exact same result can be achieved should not be in a position which involves any decision making.
Madness and there can be no way that that's a police or authorities decision either.

I believe re the ticketing this was the system used at hearts while he was there. Now that may have worked at tynecastle where they are nearer to capacity most weeks than we are but simply isn't needed at tannadice.
Unfortunately now I think he's getting dictated to by the league and police re ticketing.
Hopefully someone can help me here but for home games do they take yer name and address now when buying a ticket at the shop?

b&t, at the back of my mind I recall that, from January 1st 2017, legislation (?) comes in that purchasers have to provide a name and address when buying a match ticket. Or it may be an SPFL requirement. I'll have a look to see if I can find out.

The ridiculous queues at the club shop in recent seasons was started for the 2014/15 season when we had record season ticket sales.
We're now (happy to be corrected if wrong) around 1,200 season books down since then.
Here's a wee thought: When I want to go to see a film, I can take my phone out, open the Cineworld app, select my preference, select my seat, make the payment and get given a QR code.
When I arrive at the cinema, I just scan the QR code at the machine, get my paper ticket and take my seat.
Similar stuff at airports these days where you just scan the QR code on your phone and you're through.
QR code tickets have been around for what? 6 or 7 years? I'm not suggesting United should allocate funds to get an app and start entry via QR scanners, but in 2016 it's a wee illustration of just how far behind United are.

Bennyboy.. That was something mentioned on thursday evening.
Even the online ticket thing is a shambles.

Mate, I love my club, but in terms of keeping up with the modern world, United have always been woefully behind. Always.
In the internet age, even 6 months is a long, long time in terms of the evolution and developments in technology. We didn't get an official website until 2000 (I think), social media was overlooked until 2012, the official Dundee United app (circa 2012) was a disaster... We've been late to the party at so many turns.
Historically, United were looked at as a progressive club, things like radical youth development, the bold choice to have tangerine as new colours, Taypools...
United only seem to bring themselves up to date when it's been embarrassing for too long. Mind how out of date the official website was until it had a revamp in August 2014? The current official website is now out of date.
In the digital age, United are just not keeping up and the archaic ticketing system is the most obvious example.

Don't know how correct this is, but the Club Website showing that the Ticket Booth will be there at the George Fox Lower for the Hibs game.
"Please note the Club operates a matchday ticket booth at the George Fox Lower Stand."
5 paragraphs below where it says Season ticket 8 applies

It still doesnt really clearly tell you that tickets are on sale for east lower stand

Answering my own post here, but Eric Drysdale, director at Raith Rovers, posted on a Rovers forum
"This name and address requirement is under revised SPFL regulations which will come into force on 1 January 2017."

It was mentioned at fed meeting this was being implemented. Crazy imo.

If its to be all ticket, there's clubs now that you buy tickets online and you print off a bit of paper. Take it to the gate and they scan the code. Everton do it for instance. You scan the code, the code then becomes 'used' so wont be accepted if copied.

good idea and I remember also a few years ago talk of smart cards being implemented at tannadice. Unfortunately I think it'll be a while beforeideas like that will be seen at tannadice.

1500 tickets left suggests everyone who wants a ticket should get one.
Is the Jerry Jerr being kept for home fans?
