Price of Football 2016

Here's the United page, stats published at 10pm tonight, we're a wee bit dearer than others in the Championship, but that's no surprise. I'm unsure how accurate all the information is.

Could have been even dearer at tannadice if club went ahead with their proposed increases in gate and season ticket prices.

Re: Price of Football 2016

I've started taking my 6 year old. I always take a bag with crisps, juice etc to avoid paying the catering prices. He gets the occasional treat if I'm feeling flush.

Re: Price of Football 2016

I've still got my ticket from the 1983 game at Cappielow (third last of the season), which was priced £1:50.

On Saturday, it's £18 to get in. According to the BoE Inflation calculator, we should maybe be paying under a fiver!

Surely that was a child's ticket?

Re: Price of Football 2016

Sure I remember seeing £1.50 above the Hampden gate at 1985 Scottish Cup Final.

Edit to say- think that was bairns gate and adult was £3.

Don't think that was all ticket, but the 88 Final was, and it was definitely £4 for an adult ticket for that one. Then £7 three years later for the Motherwell debacle, a hell of a rise.

That's astonishing.

Just fucking shows how the common man has been priced out the game.

Re: Price of Football 2016

I remember the three UEFA games against Barca, Borussia and Gothenburg being a tenner each. Unless I'm mistaken. Dearer than a season ticket at the time.
The prices mentioned above for food and drinks are mind boggling. Over 6 quid for a cheeseburger and drink!!! What would it be in macdonalds? Nowhere near I'm guessing. (£2, just checked)

It's not where you're from it's where you're at.

JA

For a mcdonalds meal of a quarter pounder with cheese chips and a juice you are about £3.70..
2quid is the kids meal which comes with a toy.

I dont think they do the meal deals at tannadice anymore?

£18 to sit on freezing plastic benches with no roof over yer head.
If you want a burger go down at about 3.05. You might get back up for the start of the 2nd half.

Cappielow is an absolute shitehole

I got an under 18s half season ticket for a tenner that year and it got me into all 3 of these matches.

Re: Price of Football 2016

Cheapest I can remember paying in was I think 50p v StMirren (bairn price) in I think 86'. Lang time ago but sure we won 5-0. Was definitely mid week. Anyone mind this?

Another memory is getting a free pie and also a free entry for all (?) V Hamilton in  for all (?) that had a crowd of near 12000 in the late 80's.

Would like to see us do a free for all again.

These were marketing ideas fae the late 80's.

Re: Price of Football 2016

Free pie idea was probably a  better idea before all seater stadiums with wee seats.

That Hamilton game was Paul Sturrock's final match and the final match of season 88/89 (i think anyway).

Already Relegated Accies won 0~1 (their only away win all season).

Didnae mind it was Luggy's last match bud. Mind we lost to a penalty.  Was a downer for those who brought along mates not into Utd like myself. 11500 for a Hamilton game was/is good. Dragged them back again over the years and most kept it up.

Cannae beat filling the ground with a freebee and really think it's worth doing regadless of the result.
Nothing like the buzz of the futba and paying in is hard to achieve without the 1st experience.
I've tried to bring along a mix of mates, burds and even rival fans of the opposition over 30 years and they all loved it at oor place.
80-100 folk at least. Some ditched their ane team and some also now take their family.

Real passion rubs off and we have a "real football club"! Nae religious pish, great history in unique ways and a very passionate and raw unrivalled style of passion that isn't a bad thing to bring others into.
