OYF!!!

Re: Cammy Bell

Never heard of a keeper saving three penalties, especially not in first half hour.  They weren't well taken,  but averages would suggest Cammy Bell shouldn't have saved them all.

I only thought the first was a clear cut spot kick.

Re: Cammy Bell

Most records I can find are in penalty shootouts or the same penalty being ordered to be re taken.

Doubt any keeper in the world has saved 3 within such a short space of time from 3 different penalty takers.

However you look at stats and records this today is fucking amazing!

Re: Cammy Bell

That was outstanding today from bell.  Even better imo than Mckinnons hatrick of free kicks.

Re: Cammy Bell

Copied and pasted from the BBC match report.

Goalkeeping heroics
Walter Scott of Grimsby Town was the first goalkeeper to save three penalties in a single game; he performed this heroic feat in 1909 against Burnley.
Other goalkeepers to achieve this feat include Manchester United's Gary Bailey, who saved three penalties against Ipswich Town at Portman Road in 1980 but still conceded six goals from open play, and Huddersfield Town's Matt Glennon, who saved three spot-kicks in a league game against Crewe Alexandra in 2007.
The most penalties saved in a single season by a goalkeeper is eight (out of 10) by Paul Cooper of Ipswich Town in 1979-80.
In international football, Poland's Jan Tomaszewski (1974) and the United States' Brad Friedel (2002) share the record for most penalty saves in open play, both saving twice from the spot.

Re: Cammy Bell

Apparently it's the 1st time a keeper has saved 3 in 1 half.

Re: Cammy Bell

Dropping more points yesterday would have been catastrophic, tough tough game next week for the club.

Re: Cammy Bell

Probably saved more penalties this season than our previous GKs in last five years (at least).

Re: Cammy Bell

On a different note from"Everything you've ever wanted to know about
goalkeepers and a little bit more"   , "Very few goalkeepers have managed to score for different clubs but Scottish goalkeeper Hamish McAlpine was one of first. The one time penalty taker for Dundee United added to his tally of three league goals when he scored directly from a kick out while playing for Raith Rovers".
