First away game of the season this saturday Dumbarton away.
800 tickets sold out should be a fantastic backing from the support as always.
Couple of knocks to players so not sure how they will be for squad selection come sat.
Predict a 1-3 win for utd.

Need a win on the road to follow up from Tuesday! Hopefully Utd by a couple clear

If we have any aspirations of winning the league you win at Dumbarton, it's that simple.
Losing there in '95 was embarrassing and in hindsight those points lost ended up losing us the league.

Thing about Dumbarton is they've been really open this season. They scored 2 at Dens and 3 at Dunfermline but also conceded 5 and 4 in return.
I reckon they'll change the game plan against us as a consequence. They'll probably sit in and try and frustrate us and then try and nick one from a set-piece or counter. To this end an early goal from us would really be welcome as it would force them to come out a bit and hopefully we can then pick them off with our pace.
I'd play....
Bell
Spittal
Donaldson
Durnan
Robson
Murdoch
Flood
Fraser
Smith
VDV
Obadeyi
Subs -
Zwick
Murray
Dillon
Souttar
Johnson
Telfer
Coote

Is Toshney out?
If not then I see no reason to change the team from Tuesday, at a push I'd bring in VDV for Spittal.
This will be 4-2 to United.

Fraser and toshney had knocks not heard if any are a doubt.

You don't win leagues losing games like this one today. Better get a defence in Ray or get ready to stay in this league for a while.
Very very poor result.

Thompson lied to every single fan that bought a season ticket
Lets get his fighting statement on here again......ripped off to fuck

Shocker of a result. 180mins of football and we're already so far off the pace it's frightening. Need to get a grip and fast!

That was absolute pish today. Can't think of 1 good performance in tangerine.
No idea what the penalty was for, but we got what we deserved from the game.

Embarrassing result I hope every player hangs there head in fkn shame, that's us already 5 points behind hibs

Not just Hibs !
Points behind a lot of teams who shall put us in our place if we continue playing like this!
Don't be fooled into thinking we'll walk over Falkirk, Morton, Raith, et al, they'll all fancy their chances playing against our defence!
Ray's better be looking for the badly needed players to improve back and front.

Yeah, no doubt all Thompson's fault - remind me, what number was he wearing today

Thompson has failed to give Ray a squad that's even remotely good enough to think about promotion
Our two strikers are nowhere near good enough as are our defenders
But hey lets deflect and not face up to reality

Thompson is to blame for a lot, undoubtedly.
But it's Mckinnon who has made the decision to keep Dixon. To keep Durnan. To keep Donaldson. And to pay a transfer fee for Toshney.
None of them are good enough to win us this league.
We need two quality defenders.
And at least one penalty box centre forward. Preferably one who can handle themselves physically.
We need these players NOW!!

Just a wild guess on my part bit do you think we may have spent a wee bit more than Dumbarton?
It'll take Ray a while to sort the mess out - in terms of how he's resourced I'll wait until the window closes before coming to a conclusion on that.

Thompson wasn't to blame today, he is to blame for the fact we were playing a league game in Dumbarton today, he is to blame for the current playing squad imbalance due to agreeing some of the contracts we have no choice to honour, he is to blame for the shambles the club has become and he is to blame for doing next to fuck all to fix it.
Oh and before somebody says but he's hired Jim Spence to liaise with the fans and that's a massive improvement - it isn't, it wasn't needed and his wage (whatever it is) should have been used to get improvement in the playing squad.
Can only hope that reality kicks in in the boardroom and what's needed gets sorted this week.

I very much doubt RM wants Murray Donaldson Durnan etc but its abundantly clear the money isn't there to build a championship winning side, 4500 bought season tickets.....at least every fan can look in the mirror

I'd wager his budget's bigger than Dumbarton's.

Shocking result however it is a time for cool heads, 1 point from 6 was how we started our last season in league 2.
