If he does that and we get cuffed though HE has no chance of impressing Stephen Thompson and showing that he is a man worth keeping at the club.
Right now he's fighting for his job remember.Again what good does it do him (or Utd imo) if we play the youngsters and go up North and get tanked?

Sitting on a bus to Inversnecky and back is not gaining 1st team experience in my book....just pissing young players off in my book....they have watched the same shite this season we have and must be questioning how bad they must be to not get a game in front of FRaser, McKay, ......well Fraser really, he's keeck
You might be right but with the all round feeling so fkn low it might have been the wrong time to play the young players.
I might be wrong as a win might have done them proud but another disaster on top of the last too many might have had them feeling involved in the nightmare.
Agreed......so why the day trip to be on a bench after a whole season?

You try and distance the kids from 'bad feeling' and blood them when things are a bit more positive and the team is playing well.
Make the transition as seemless as possible for them.
As other post , same comments , we're agreed shouldn't be there I think. Maybe next year. Hope not just making numbers up because rest "Patoned" it?

Agree Tek seen a load of people slating the kid, think he's just taking Souttars place as the scapegoat
Some of it is or has been justified. He is a frustrating player and even i at times have thought 'Oh ffs what are you doing there Son?' during games.
BUT
It should probably be remembered that this is his 1st season playing in the Utd 1st team and he's had to play in one of our worst ever teams. If he had been in a midfield with guys like Barry Robson or Willo Flood he'd probably have made the transistion a wee bit easier imo.
He'll get better i think.
Definitely has to bulk up though.Get him on a strict diet of Roast chicken and sweetheart stout.

You could see at the end of the game that the win meant a lot to the team. It will give them confidence for the last two games.
To put youngsters in just to blood them for next season, done wrongly would just produce more Luis Zwicks. The bus journey up to Inverness with the first team squad and all that goes with it, with a team that has won a game will do wonders for them regardless of game time.
I thought Fraser DID have a decent game tonight.
And if we do have Sean Dillon next year, a better position may just be defensive mid.

He's had six months to impress us and Thompson.
I'm not bothered if he gives young players an outing. I will be bothered if we consider keeping him.

The buck stops with Mixu though.
You seen tonight subtle changes to his line-up and formation (3 upfront basically and Dillon in Defensive CM) and it worked!!
The guy deserves the chance to at least show he should be kept on as a 1st team coach.
6 months is hardly anytime to implement change in any case.Particulary at a car-crash club like Utd have been this season.
You don't normally have such derision for anyone Utd related Pat,i'm quite surprised tbh.

1. Who arranged the Mixu/Goges double act, were they thrown together?
2. Anyone notice how often Fraser was open but didn't receive the pass?
3. How about team support for Kawashima (albeit undeserved)?
4. Just me that sees honking body language throughout?
Not so long ago we had a team that was a team and produced flowing football.
However, I reckon ST's ripping of the team's heart in consecutive seasons set in motion a cataclysmic change to the team and club's group dynamics. Rip less, or rip over a longer period, then it may have been managed. Unfortunately, JMac had what he was left with (albeit with financial reward) and Mixu inherited a depleted team then brought in more change.
Teams develop gradually and all we've done is dismember, destroy and decline.
TBH, whoever takes over football matters needs to be a miracle worker, or young to have enough time to get back where we were.

Remember Tony Docherty being Jobbie McCall's coach??? Despite being part of the clueless regimes of McCall, Chisholm and Brewster but was still kept on by Levein for a year before being poached by McInness and seemingly being the driving force up there. We should not pin the blame on Young.

I only realised this when watching the match last night when the commentary mentioned it, but the only slight disadvantage of beating ICT last night, was that it kept the BNBs in 7th temporarily anyway. Had Inverness drawn with us, they would have knocked the BNBs off 7th.
Hoping that now I've made a total chunt if myself, that I can redeem mysell, and avoid the firing squad by saying I hope Icy Tea beat the b@stards.

Seems I'm misjudging Gordon Young in some folks eyes.
His connection with Mixu, in answer to arabugsy, comes, I believe, from Young's involvement as a schoolboy coach at Motherwell. Mixu's son was with Motherwell FC. Roughly, that's where I know of GY's reputation, which hasn't always been portrayed as favourable to me.
I very much doubt he'll be here beyond the next fortnight.

Pat, my question was more did Mixu and Gordon offer themselves as a package or were they appointed independently?

I'll quote
the Mixu Q&A
'Gordon Young has come along'
