Re: United connections pictures

Good thread! Gutted someone got Chris Sulley. A player I always remember but more for being in the squad pics than for actually playing

Re: United connections pictures

Probably quite an easy one: name the ex United player on the left, and what match is he playing in?

Re: United connections pictures

Is it Ian Britton?

Re: United connections pictures

This is from a slightly earlier era than Championship medal winner Ian Britton, a clue would be 'tax cheat', allegedly. We had quite a trade with the club he is playing for in the photo, at the time.

Re: United connections pictures

Wattie Smith for Dumbarton v Hertz?

Re: United connections pictures

Could be right bugsy. Certainly looks like a Dumbarton strip from the mid 70s. Is that no the gehm where Walter scored an own goal in the Scottish Cup.

Re: United connections pictures

Billy and arabugsy, it is Walter Smith, I think it's the og at Hampden in a semi final against Hearts in 1976.

Thought it was an easy one too!

First thought was it looks like Billy Hainey. But he's wearing a Goalie's top.

Rolando Ugolini?

Re: United connections pictures

No, it's not, but you have the correct national ancestry. However, I'm unsure if that's a great clue or a diversion.

Gordon Brown awarded him a top medal in 2009 in a Downing Street ceremony. Very few people have one of these medals. Another off putting clue perhaps.Mull it over and I'll keep you posted (another clue.....)

Aye, a very young Bonetti.

Here's another one (I'll stop when the football starts again).

Re: United connections pictures

Here's who it is:

His name is Tam McAdam, he's the leader of the team,
He plays at centre forward for the boys in tangerine,
He's here he's there he's everywhere, he scores a vital goal
And as for Gordon Wallace, you can stick him up your hole.

Remember him well (though not as slim as in either image) and should've got it from your Dumbarton theme, but every time I looked at the recent picture I could only see Tommy Burns. Must have been a legacy of Tam's sellick period.

Re: United connections pictures

It's not John Burke, arabugsy.

Great anticipation when he was signed by Alex Smith, this player turned out professionally in six different countries during his career.
