See Dillon's being inducted and it seems to be causing a stir.
Personally think it's well deserved.
Is he the best Arab or CH we've ever had? No, although overall he has been decent over the last 9 years
But he is a cup winner, 15th or so in terms of appearances for the club and a great ambassador for the club.
Andy McLaren, Sandy Davie, Frank Quinn, Richard Gough and Jerry Kerr the other inductees.

I agree with you, I think it's deserved, and I'm chuffed for him.
I can understand if people are looking at current form or whatever, but when you look back at his 9 years and what he has done on and off the park then I think it's deserved.

Don't have a problem with him getting inducted in a few years time ...but not now. We're on the verge of getting relegated from the top flight and we're slapping our Captain on the back??Just seems horrible timing to celebrate him at the moment.I'm surprised he accepted just now tbh.
The whole Hall of Fame process is getting devalued a wee bit with too many inductions. It'd be better if it was just 1 or 2 each time.

6 a year is too many, 2or 3 a year would be more like it.
I kind of look at it like this is the hall of fame, then there's the Legends who are a different category altogether and there's prob less than 20 in that group.
Then there's Wee Jim who's in a category of his own at the top of the tree.

I don't really care beyond arguing the toss (which I'm doing on twitter), but he shouldn't be in while he's still playing for us considering our performances this season.
After he leaves my opinion of him will soften.
But it's just an excuse for a dinner for the club which everyone who goes to enjoys, so nobody should care too much anyway.

Nae surprise that it was Arabtrust who chose 'Sean'

I'd rather see Dillo get in than Gough to be honest - I think the former is more loyal to DUFC than the latter
... More importantly where is Victor Ferreyra ???

Gough was one of the best players to ever pull on a United strip. One of my favourite players of all time.

First time attending it tomorrow. Really looking forward to it.

I always thought Legends were inspirational characters that you looked back on and thought "Fuck me, wis he no' some player" and I just don't get that with Dillon, clubman, loyal servant and allround nice bloke he ticks all the boxes but Legend nah!
Maybe looking back once he's retired he could be considered but while he's still playing no' fir me, even an award of Clubman of the Decade or special award for services rendered but Hall of Famer ?
Imho less is more at these awards, some of the inductees I believe should never been given the honour and to me it has tainted and diluted the Legend status.
In saying that it is a good piss up, if they would only realise they don't need that many and went for quality rather than quantity it would make it more prestigious.

Andy McLaren??? A few good games--cup final and play offs but hall of fame? I remember a game at St Johnstone when he got subbed as he was near in tears with the abuse he was getting---from United fans no less!!

Was in the team that won our first ever Scottish cup. Also instrumental in getting us promoted so yeah I say he is a worthwhile addition.

Agree with this too, it's about what they did at Utd, not the rest of their career.

Enjoy things while we can. We are going to have to keep looking backwards to find nuggets to elect because in the present day and age, how can anyone from the "here today, gone tomorrow" age qualify for the Hall of Fame. Loyalty and servitude, like Dillon possesses is becoming a rare thing. He also lifted our last trophy. Good appointment imo!

The legends dinner was a great idea until they inducted 6 at a time!
It lost all credibility when Wilkie and Main were inducted.....

That's what I meant above when I said there's hall of famers, then there's the legends, different thing altogether IMO.
If they had a dinner once a year just to celebrate 1 individual legend, Narey, Sturrock, Heggy etc it'd prob still sell out.

Fair enough and I did mention the same but for me he's not a hall of famer. I guess for a smallish team like United there's gonna be a few dubious choices.

Ach we shouldn't take this too seriously, it's just an opportunity for the club to hold a corporate event and make some doe and for the fans to have a few drinks with some former players.

I wonder if ...
1)Stephen Thompson will attend
AND
2)If he does and does a speech what kind of reception he'll get.
Could be an interesting evening.

The Hall of Fame has been going for a few years now, I think that most of the people that are in everyones minds as being great club servants or legends have already gone in, so we are left with more polarising choices that will always be open to debate.
Rightly or wrongly, I won't begrudge anyone going into the hall of fame as I feel its an acknowledgement of their time spent at the club, and for them to accept the honour is also recognising how much the club has meant to them as well.

Is there any other TT members going tonight?

Justine did the speech at the end of the season as he clearly lacks the balls to face the fans, just like he bottled the promised Q&A night......wanker
