Is Mixu - Thommo's YES man ?

There doesn't really appear to be much of a "let's not get relegated" strategy at Utd?
The incoming signings are completely underwhelming. Even bringing in Big Mixu appeared to be more of a result of St Johnstone and Inverness telling us to sling our hook. Our pursuit of Tommy Wright and then Yogi appeared half hearted to say the least!
So bring in a club legend - the fans will be lenient! What's he done? We are battling for Premiership survival and our team isn't any better. Demel obviously was quality at some point but....
Kawashima...it's a bit early to tell but doesn't command the box. Riski....nowhere near match fit
Gunning...he's delusional - swearing at fans now. He could be a good player but he has no pride. Wee Jum would have battered him !!!
Pongolle admitted no clubs in France would even give him a trail because of all his past injuries.
Where are all those players Mixu had up his sleeve from his European network ?
If we are going to get relegated (please please don't let it happen) we are getting rid of players who could do a job down there. Connolly is away with Telfer and Murray rumoured to be next ...
Is Mixu really in charge? He looks on a hiding to nothing. Couldn't he have insisted McGowan stayed until after the Killie game? Not a tremendously talented footballer but an aggressive, hard working athlete that appears to care when we get beat. Remember his ding-dong with Durnan?
For me ST was concentrating too much on that team in Oz and letting JayMac away with murder - especially his" hit and hope, scattergun" signing policy. We're not recovering from that. ST let us down badly and now he's clearing the decks so that he doesn't have to put his hand in his pockets when we feel the pain in the Championship.
If he feels we're on a shoeing to go down then how can the players be expected to feel any different?
It's a cliché that the club belongs to the fans - it belongs to the major shareholders - but we've got to make them aware that we expect much better governance of our club. In any other industry having the 3rd biggest budget and descending into bottom place from Cup Finalists in less than 18 months would see those in charge all punted.
Mixu will be the fall-guy but his hands must be tied or he'd be doing a heck of a lot more??
I'm going to cheer my team on like a madman on Saturday but I'm not going to pretend this is all bad luck and ALL Jackie's fault.

His job title is Head Coach.  Maybe he is just that.

Re: Is Mixu - Thommo's YES man ?

Is he his Yes man?I don't know.I doubt it.

Thompson was quoted as saying though that he would only sell McGowan if Mixu said he could guarantee him 2 International Centre Halfs.

I don't see these International replacements so if i was Mixu i would be asking why the fuck we're selling one of our better players when we're in the complete shite.

Re: Is Mixu - Thommo's YES man ?

According to Mixu today, the McGowan transfer hasn't gone through yet.

"Everything is moving on but the deal is not concluded. As soon as I get a shout that somebody might be moving, I start looking for replacements. We have acted already towards that and will probably act more.Players come and go, we get on with it."

Re: Is Mixu - Thommo's YES man ?

Mixu has taken us backwards and that is something that I thought was impossible. He is absolutely useless and his hard line approach initially was predictable but unfortunately his lack of understanding tactically has shown him for what he is. He persists with the same failed formation week in week out and picked players that were out of form consistently. He can't see what every fan seems to see during the duration of each game and that for me is alarming. His signing policy is suicidle and not even short term. He is not building a team but merely dismantling it for the sake of journeymen pros that are out of sorts and out of time.  Is he a YES man? ....It would appear that way as he walked into the job knowing only to well that although the first to be interviewed he was only picked once we failed with Wright and Hughes(and probably others we don't know about). Thompson had Hughes in the bag but would'nt adhere to 2 clauses he has with Inverness(oh and probably the fact that compo was needed!).

Thompson went for the cheaper option which has backfired spectacularly!

Wanker!!

Thompson has failed miserably as a chairman in the last 18 months

Re: Is Mixu - Thommo's YES man ?

What were the clauses in Hughes contract I just presumed he was using us to get a better deal just as Wright did.

Re: Is Mixu - Thommo's YES man ?

When I first saw the thread title I thought....here we go...but in fairness I agree with a lot of what the opportunity has said.

But rearding the January signings (so far) it's probably worth bearing in mind

1) The January window is always a bit of a nightmare as most players are still under contract.

2) Cant be easy trying to persuade players to join a club 14 points adrift at the bottom of the table - a Premiership quality player ain't gonna sign just to go down or at least would want to stay on Premiership wages if we did - anyone think the board should be shelling out on two/three year deals under the current circumstances.

Not over impressed by Mixu so far but the yes man accusation is imo a bit unfair - I'll save my anger for the board decisions that got us here.

So far, Mixu's been an abject failure, but I doubt if he's a 'yes man'.

Regarding McCall, he abandoned ship at Motherwell when they were in a better position than us.

Re: Is Mixu - Thommo's YES man ?

Don't think he's a yes man as such, but think his hands are tied a lot tighter than those before him and he obviously agreed to that to take the job.

Still think he should have done a helluva lot better with what he's got.

And as for who it should have been, Jim McIntyre all day long.

Re: Is Mixu - Thommo's YES man ?

He's no yes man I'm sure.
Lumping him in with ST who's unpopular is too easy right now.
His results have been pish.
He's improved the performance but with no end result. It's a start but still pish.
I won't judge him until later than now when he has more of his own team but think his confidence in using systems he believes in have been a mistake with some of the players available to do his thing with but can you blame him there? Maybe.

He has brought in a better ratio of good players than JMac in Demel, Pongolle and Kawashima.
Riski looks risky as does the new lad fae West Ham as his only 1st team game was in a Europa League match.
Mixu is at the mercy of the board and ST, rekon they've told him you can only sign new when we ship out current to free up money. He's probably not allowed to give long term contracts due to the uncertainty.
He has a hard job attracting players for reasons obvious.
If he doesn't change his formation tomorrow though another section of the support will loose faith in him.
Nae yes man and loves the club but nae time to be imperfect in his job.
He's not had a lot of luck and we need a shitload of that.
