When do we reach the tipping point?

I know its easier to say you keep going until its mathematically impossible to stay up but at what point do we make a decision to plan for the Championship, and making sure we get out of it at the first time of asking?

I'm not saying that it's now btw, but January is critical.

We've got two options as I see it, get the auld war chest out, splash the cash to try and stay in the Premiership and hope its enough.

Second option is to get the squad trimmed and prepared to hit the ground running in the Championship.

As I said, its easy to say "obviously the first option" but if we spend money on a lot of players and still go down we are fucked, getting out of the Championship will be difficult and we might end up like St Mirren and flirt with consecutive relegations.

The second option is the Hearts route, get your house in order for the Championship early, you might do enough to scrape a few results and stay in the Premiership (without a points deduction) but if you don't you can hit the ground running and romp the Championship then carry that form into the Premiership on your return.

I'm not for throwing the cards in yet, and the sadistic side in me is not adverse to one season in the Championship - as long as it was only one season, and as Hearts have proven both on an off the park its not the end of the world.

The chances are we'll go down, were the worst team in the league by far and underestimating what it'll take to get out of it or preparing for that in January might be the riskiest decision we make in a long time.

If we're 12 - 16 points adrift after Killie at home?  Is that too late?

Maybe I'm being more pragmatic that emotional about it, interested to hear if others think the same.

Re: When do we reach the tipping point?

the long distance view - it will take a drastic improvement but we can stay up, and that needs to the goal and 100% focus for everyone on the coaching and playing staff.

other people at the club like the chairmen and finance people can plan for both situations.

Re: When do we reach the tipping point?

another option - if we sign players in january, offer them a significant bonus for keeping us up. maybe work out the cost of relegation, and use a 1/4 of this amount to work out the bonus and motivation for these players.

brutal times to think about these options, as the players there now are on good money and are either not good enough or not committed enough, however we need to think about how we can get out of this

Re: When do we reach the tipping point?

If don't get at least 6 points from the next 4 games it's all over, the gap is widening every week and another 4 games with us only picking up say 2 draws would leave us with far too much to do.

Tek posted we have amassed 19 points since Amo ahd GMS left so bridging at 10 point plus gap would appear impossible

Re: When do we reach the tipping point?

I've begun thinking it might be better if we didn't get a bit of hope here and there, only for it to be dashed. Maybe bad enough to be in the state we are in without getting a few attempts at false hope.

Then, at other moments, I think things might turn around quickly, and other teams will be shitting it.

Fuck knows how it will all pan out.

IF we go down I fear for our future.

Re: When do we reach the tipping point?

I think we're gonna stay up.

I think we're playing some decent football. Creating plenty of chances. The points total since Feb is astonishing but I'm not taking that into account. Not fair to use that on Mixu. Fair enough  its the same players as under Jackie BUT we now have a better management team and are using rigid systematic football as opposed to the fluid 'anything goes' style under Jackie.

I'd like Mixu to slightly tweak the formation to a 3-4-1-2 as opposed to a 3-4-2-1. Give McKay some help up there. Boys like Bodul & Murray are out of the picture but after several weeks of working with Mixu, maybe fitness levels, attitude, understanding of tactics or whatever else Mixu was unhappy with are better?

We've let Taggart go so I wouldn't be surprised to see Bodul come back into the managers plans.

Re: When do we reach the tipping point?

Still massively confident we will turn the corner v soon - and from there, climb the league. I have 9th in my head at the end of the season

We are creating but could be doing with a much better keeper - which is sorted. A couple of wins will give those who's shooting boots have deserted them, some much needed confidence.

If we can keep morris and gunning fit, it will help us, as will a fully fit demel.

Aisde from the blind optimism, the tipping point will change, I guess. Feb would be a good guide as to whether or not we are in the mix or doomed

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.
