Stop worrying about what it's costing, it's not your money plus it'll be money well spent if he contributes to us staying up. That's if he actually is signing!

Totally agree we this. If it takes short fixes to keep us up, then it's what we have to do.No got a clue aboot this lad but he certainly has pedigree and experience.(which is exactly what we need to get out of this relegation battle) The alternative doesn't bear thinking about.
And how do we ken how much potential signings will be getting? It's guesswork.

My point was about the fixation with some people of what wages we are paying or not paying. Let the club worry about that.
We must stay in this league, that's the priority.

We need a right back or centre half so durnan can get dropped

In the tele: simana pongolle looks set to sign and ernemenko is thinking about the offer we've made to him

Maybe he will play CH though where we're fucking brutal and have no-one who can defend a fucking set-piece.
Besides we're not 'all that' at RB anyway. Dillon is poor there and McGowan's overrated.

McGowan's overrated? Really? One of our top performers (if not THE top performer) this season without a shadow of doubt.

That's not really saying much though is it?
He's been part of a defence that has consistently last goals throughout 2015.
Doesn't chip in with goals like Watson did either.
He's a good pro and has a good attitude but ability wise? He's just 'okay' but no more than that imo.And wouldn't be massively missed moving forward as Mixu re-builds,again just imo.

Some CV he has. Must play CB rather than RB for us.

Right enough SuperM. Signed.

Dundee United have signed, subject to international clearance, experienced defensive midfielder Guy Demel until the end of the season. The French born player becomes Mixu Paatelainen’s second signing as he designs a squad capable of securing movement up the Ladbrokes Premiership.
Guy, 6’ 1” and 34 years old, was most recently with West Ham in the Barclays Premier League, playing 75 times for the Hammers over four seasons and lists Hamburger SV, Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal amongst his previous clubs. Demel came through the ranks at Nimes Olympique before moving to Arsenal and subsequently enjoying success during a four-year spell with Borussia Dortmund.
The powerful player established himself in the Ivory Coast national side during six seasons with Hamburger SV, where he played alongside the likes of Rafael van der Vaart and former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.
He has also represented Cote d’Ivoire on 35 occasions, played in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2006 and 2008 and was included for both the 2006 and 2010 World Cup finals. After helping Ivory Coast to qualify for the 2013 CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Guy retired from international football in 2012 to concentrate on club football.
Speaking to arabzone.co.uk about today’s signing, Head Coach Mixu Paatelainen said: “Guy comes with a lot experience and fantastic pedigree. He can add a lot to our squad. He is a powerful player but above all a good footballer. He will be a strong character in our dressing room and I am delighted to start working with him.”
Custodian of squad number 55, Guy Demel said: “Once I spoke to the Head Coach, I was excited by the challenge of Dundee United and the role he has planned for me. I want to identify myself with the Club. I have many years of experience in football and if I can use my knowledge to help the younger players here that is what I will do. I have been training hard and I can’t wait to play for Dundee United. I am ready as soon as the Head Coach needs me.”
The Terrors take on Hamilton this Saturday at Tannadice and Demel expects to be part of the match day squad.
Go to ArabZONE now for an exclusive interview with Mixu Paatelainen and Guy upon joining the Club.

Don't think we'd have went out and got him for full back when we are decent there.
Center half or defensive midfield surely. Looks a double hard bastard right enough!

Mcgowans been one o our best so far this season imo
Looks as though defensive midfield

i'd play him at Centre Half as long as he's as hard as he looks! I like McGowen and think he'll improve further if he knows the boys beside him can be trusted to defend.
If we can bring in the keeper, Pongolle and maybe Eremenkoe then we start to look a bit more solid and with a bit of experience down the spine of the team

What a fucking signing

The thing is we can't rely on Morris because of his fitness issues so at the moment we only really have McGowan, Gunning and Dixon who would be seen as automatic first picks so we probably need another defender. Dillon is on the wane, Durnan isn't good enough and Donaldson is out of favour.
He said on Arabzone that he like to play in midfield though which was interesting.
Any word on Pongolle yet?

On the face of it,this is a fkn tremendous signing. Don't give a shite how much wages he's on. Bet it doesn't come close to how much we'd lose if we went down.
Keep them coming Mixu.
