Remember the days not too long ago when we tenement dwellers had to use an outdoor toilet, usually on a landing on the common stair? These facilities were normally shared by anything up to four families. Cold and draughty, they were certainly not conducive to lingering except, of course, when you were desperate. You would rush to the lavvie, key in hand, only to find it already occupied by some neighbour who was in no hurry! Ever tried to control diarrhea by willpower??

Are there still properties in Dundee where such primitive conditions exist? Or are we more genteel these days?
