Thanks for your kind comments Gents.  I have heard various things in the last year like, "oh we are losing this or that thousand pounds a week or a month".  With my day job in mind, some sense of perspective is needed, as finishing one league place lower than where you aim to be with a break even budget means you are going to lose about £5,000 a month.  Two League places means £10,000 per month and so on. That is a high pressure environment to be setting annual budgets etc in a business that is as volatile as football, I'll tell you.  Surely even the biggest detractors must admit that?

Waffelz ... nae sure yet what my plan is.  I believe Mr Dantes wishes shown around some of the the Granite Shitty's low spots.  PM me how you are travelling and I'll answer any questions you have.  And of course I will probably see you Wednesday?

Did you ask any questions about finances??

You mention that we lose money per place, so for example we budgeted for Top 6 and were already losing 20k a week then had to sack our management team whilst having to bring in more players and now praying for a 3rd bottom finish. If these were the sort of circumstances facing us, would that be a worry??

I asked general questions as I have said in the OP, the answers to which have given me a far greater understanding of what the starting points etc are for budgets, than I had before the meeting (which was zero knowledge).  But I'm sure you are meaning specific Forensic questions, so the answer to that is obviously no, as I had insufficient information/knowledge in the first place.  I feel I have said what I can say on a Message Board though.  I could have kept it to myself, but I wanted to be able to reach out to Average Joes like me and I assured Mr Southern that certain specifics would remain private.  I feel I have kept to my word and it seems most on here are happy to have read what I have said.  Dundee United whilst being my football team of choice (and yours) is (as we know) a Limited Company and is owned by the Thompson Family.

Technically they can do whatever they like with Dundee United and if they wanted to drive the Club off the Tay Bridge, there is absolutely nothing you nor I can do about it.  Just as Roman Abramovich could do likewise to Chelski (I can always hope that happens can't I???!!!)  I am just a Customer, albeit a Customer who has an emotional attachment to the product that is Dundee United.  If I don't like what's on offer I can choose not to go. Did we not dodge a potential bullet with Romanov?  Look at Deadco and Craig Whyte and Charles Green?  You obviously have the point of view that the Chairman is bleeding the Club dry for his own personal gain, whilst I see no evidence available to me to back that point of view up.  All I can go on is that it is his family's money that has propped us up for years and if your point of view is correct, then he's doing so under the nose of his mother and sister and in doing so is also going against the wishes of his late father?  I don't buy that.

Don't get me wrong, we missed a huge opportunity last season, that will probably not come along again in my lifetime, but keeping Armstrong and GMS would not have guaranteed us winning anything.  Yes we would have increased our chances of maybe winning something, but that is all.  We still would have had to Joust with a Giant in Glasgow that has 10x plus the resources we have and no guarantee of being able to slay that Giant.  Just as has been the case for over 2 decades now!

Don't get me wrong, I think the Chairman has made mistakes this year.  And big ones at that, but I don't think it warrants some of what is going on.  I for one am prepared to see if he has learned from his mistakes and Saturday's meeting with his General Manager followed by the teams performance and those 3 points have swept away some of my dark clouds of doubt.

Can I ask a question of you HH please?  Do you think it is fair on the new Manager to be weighed down by all this anti Chairman rhetoric?

Always good to see Mr Bugs! Love both Fooky's and Bugsy's enthusiasm and optimism. Be careful now though, it might rub off on some folk!

Re: FIO United Supporters In The Same Boat As Me!

You will have to point out where I said he is bleeding us dry??

You are right about the Thompson Family being able to do what they like, 100% right.

You seem to be happier because you were told a few things from Southern. Can you then understand that there are some fans not so happy as they see far more serious questions unanswered?

Sorry but that last comment is ridiculous.

Heggy we are going in roundabouts here, no matter what Fooky says you will disagree with so why don't we just knock it on the head and agree to disagree, doesn't seem like your going to change each other's minds.

Failing that, why don't you back it up and do what Fooky has done and go and speak to them direct and get the answers to your questions that you want.

This is getting really tedious, and not just on this thread.

Re: FIO United Supporters In The Same Boat As Me!

FKT, cracking post pal.  Must confess been traveling around like a mad man and been a bit frustrated at not really having time to post.  Just wanted to say thanks for getting some intel on some of these questions!  Havent read every passage yet but will read it over a few times later today.

Hope you're well pal, maybe see you in a few weeks.

Re: FIO United Supporters In The Same Boat As Me!

Well done Fooky for asking for answers and for going to the meeting.Hope it satisfied your curiosity on certain matters.

Me personally I think the so-called '5 year plan' is an extremely flawed concept. But i'll leave that for another time.

Dont think its harsh at all Tek to be honest with you. Curious to see how you think that.

Fair play to HH if he is trying to get his questions answered.

I think it's harsh because you were basically saying to him to stop posting about Thompson and challenging him to arrange a meeting with him if he wanted to get answers.

And as he can't meet Thompson in person to ask questions/air his frustrations where else is he meant to vent them?

Where exactly did I ask him to stop posting about Thompson? How did I dictate that exactly?

Here's a thought, why don't we put up a new topic just about Stevie Thompson and have a debate or "vent" there instead of always going back to the same old arguments in different threads.

As I already indicated,by challenging him to set-up a meeting if he wasn't happy.(He has tried to as part of a group and hasn't been able to meet Thompson, not his fault I would suggest).

By using words like 'tedious' you're basically saying to him 'gonnae shut the fuck up'.

HH is perfectly entitled to his view (as are the people who disagree with him).

Re: FIO United Supporters In The Same Boat As Me!

Thank you TEK that was the correct thing to do.

HH you have still not answered my questions, but seem determined to get the last shout in?

Mr Southern kindly did offer me a drink, however, I declined anything at all, therefore, "sweetners" were not required.  I'm sure that is what you meant as opposed to me being bought in a defamatory sense?

When you posted that last night I thought 'Christ terrible idea...that would end in a riot'.

And it probably would,still.

But on reflection maybe it is best just to put up some kind of 'Thompson/BoD/Grievances Thread' and just let everyone have their say....and keep it all on the one thread so all this bickering stops infiltrating itself into other threads.

If someone wants to post it up....i'm fine with that.

Re: FIO United Supporters In The Same Boat As Me!

Would rather say this publicly rather than in a PM, but I would like to apologise to Fooky, obviously my comments last night and the aftermath de-railed this topic, and the last thing I wanted to do was to take away from the original post which Fooky obviously put a lot of work into, which myself and others, judging from the initial feedback greatly appriciated.

As for HeggyHandshake, in relation to you accusing me of not letting posters on here have different views in the locked topic, then I sincerely hope you look at my past previous posts, hopefully then you can see that you have misjudged me.
And for that I extend an olive branch and hopefully we can just start over.

HeggyHandshake wrote:

I asked him a question (did he think it was fair on Mixu to work with this anti-Chairman rhetoric going on and on and on in the background) and he dismissed it as ridiculous!

That question!

Pre 02/02/2015 when I was on Mad, I used to love reading your stuff as MM.  Thoughts on matches etc you were always bang on the money.  I thought we would be affected by events that day, any team would have, but not capitulation and freefall to the bottom of the League by October!  A mistake was made, but life and business is all about not repeating mistakes, but instead learning from them and moving on.  I'm prepared to give ST a second chance, whereas you are obviously not.

You seem determined to lead the baying mob and I'm asking you if you love Dundee United (which I know you do) do you not think you should give it a rest for a while saying the same thing over and over and over again?  I mean if we do not pull ourselves out of the mire, will there be a Dundee United as we know it based on the figures I have given?

I chose to make light of your jibe about me being on the take (even though you are bang out of order to say it with nothing whatsoever to back it up).  I happen to think you should apologise for that comment and take it back.  You should also completely rethink your strategy as regards dealing with the Chairman, as I think you are in a minority, albeit a very vocal minority.  I was ignored at first when I wrote to him and I put my points across in a coherent and structured manner, but I'm like a dog with a bone when something is wrong and something was wrong, but now it's hopefully on the way to being put right?
