Speaking of United web sites, for the last couple of years I've been thinking about starting a fan site.
It wouldn't be anything to rival this place, or Mad or EastFootball or any other United forum; it would be a "magazine" type site with articles, opinions, match reports, blogs etc but from the United fans point of view.
Is this something people think would be popular?
Would anybody here be interested in contributing to it?
All sounds good from me apart from one wee bit...'opinions'.If by that you mean a message board facility then by all accounts it would be in direct competition with this place. Not a 'fierce' comepition more a friendly one i'm sure...but competition nonetheless.
That would lead to a wee conflict of interests and i'm not sure how i would feel about canvassing support for it on here tbth mate.
If you didn't mean a message board and meant something entirely different, then as you were and i of course wish you all the best of luck with it SA.
When I say opinions, I just mean it would be in a blog like format, a bit like ArseBlog I suppose:
there would be no forum or discussions etc.
No way would I want it to be a direct compettion for this place Tek or any other United forum, indeed I visualise it as something that just isn't there for Dundee United at the moment (not that I am aware of anyway).
I wouldn't want it to be a platform for people to diplay personal vendetas etc either, that doesn't mean that there can't be critisism of the club etc though, I would just want it to be balanced.
I just think it would be cool to see things like match reports from a fans point of view.

I thought that was what you were meaning Slateford. Kind of like an online fanzine yea? You could always have a link from your site to any forum (would highly recommend the Tek Towers ) if you thought it really needed it.

Well good luck with it in that case mate.

I might be making this up, but I'm sure I read somewhere recently that some of the guys who were involved with The Final Hurdle were going to resurect it on-line? Is that is the case, I don't think it would be worth competing against it as it's that kind of format that I envisaged.

It was mooted that,yes.
Though I don't think it was anyone that worked on TFH originally that were going to be involved (could be wrong).
Sarto Mutiny from here did mention on Twitter that he could be interested in reviving it and was trying to gauge support /interest in it.I indicated to him (and so did a few others) that they may be interested in contributing to it should it be reserected (sp).
That was a few months back however and I haven't heard anything since.
My personal view is any kind of fanzine should be produced in original printed format. Maybe I'm just old fashioned but there was nothing better than getting the fanzine in your hands and leafing through it on the bus home or in the pub before/afterwards.
But maybe that's just me though and that's an outdated outlook.

Agree mate, I loved picking it up and reading through it before kick-off and taking it home/pub to finish. Would love to see it back in printed format.
I would have no idea how to get a printed version on the go again though, but I know how to put a website together!
