Stubbs and McIntyre not in frame because of this and could be proving a sticking point in whatever’s going on wi Lazlo.

I would worry about any Manager that would agree to have his Assistant Manager foisted onto him without having any prior knowledge of him.

Kinda screams 'yes man' from the off.

Spot on TEK. Cast your mind back to Golac....he wasn't allowed to bring in his own team.....his 'assistant; had resigned from the FA Academy at Lillieshall and had to run back with his tail between his legs. He was undermined from day one, and remarkably still managed t win a Cup because he was a great man manager. Laszlo will have the same issue, but I think he is a more 'forceful' personality than oor Ivan was. it will be a rollercoaster.

This remains speculation......lets see what pans out!

There's not just the issue of keeping Laurie Ellis on though. There's also the issue of Darren Taylor retaining his position as 'Head of Football Operations'.

A good manager worth his salt wants to conduct not just the recruitment of his staff but also would want to be the man to sit face to face with any potential new signing.Even if it's just to be able to sit across from them, look them in the eye and see if you can sense if they have the requisite hunger and desire in them.

I worried when McKinnon was seemingly given carte blanche to re-assess the structure of the club by recruiting his mates that it could hamper us in future.

I worried it may still in the longterm.Either that or cost a pretty penny restructuring yet again.

My guess is that someone will be brought in till the season's end with the proviso (from both sides) that the situation will be re-assessed again in June. With Ellis and Taylor kept on for the time being.

You're right though Mr Castro....we'll see how things pan out in the very near future.

Re: Next Dundee United Manager

Gut feeling and impression on Stubbs wasn't good. Don't see him as what we need.

He's maybe gone to weegia to protect his self worth, who knows but i'm glad if he's out the frame.

I'd have been happier last time round with Hughes than now and I've no idea really about McIntyre other than what I heard 1st hand fae Dunfermline staff many years ago which wasn't 'nice' but we don't need fkn nice anyway.

Laszlo jumps out at me as a surprise and a better option based on his straight talking, unique style with a germanic style of tactical approach and a way of getting his point accross where required with a flexible style, supposedly very different between dealing with media and players.

Sign of a good man manager and someone who can flex his approach where it's important i.e. dealing with all parts of the club to best effect.

Like that he comes accross as a bit extreme. Oor players have had all the approaches going to get them going for long enough.

Need something different, maybe extreme.

Betting seems to be suspended now.

He averages 0.36 years in a coaching role per club. Some 'Record' eh!

It's John Voila tipping off the Record in a bid to catch Utd's interest.

It'll come to nothing.

Re: Next Dundee United Manager

I think we should be moving towards having continuity of coaching & backroom staff (including the head of recruitment albeit not this particular one) for any incoming head coach/1st team manager to work with. In most organisations new guys don't bring in their own team, they just work with whoever is there. Footballs record in turning over management teams is an unnecessary upheaval and waste of expenditure. If this prospective new coach doesn't like this arrangement, he can look elsewhere.

Mind you this depends on the chairman getting his recruitment of coaching and backroom posts right in the first place - perhaps we should just wait till ST finds someone to swop the club for a shiny new pound coin

I d pick butcher, but I m sure the timing wouldn't work with the tragic death of his son.
As for mccall , he shat the bed at Motherwell. Didnt he quit in the run up to a game against us cos he said he had "no answer" to what to do against us?

Agreed. Isn't this what ICT do? They've probably got one of the highest success rates when appointing coaches/managers.

Re: Next Dundee United Manager

The Courier reporting Laszlo on the brink of being appointed. Could be a deal till the end of the season with no funds available in January and working with the existing backroom staff.

Read this and not keen on the face of it. Will shabba have the same dedication to us if he's off at the end of the season? Maybe big promotion bonus included? If he's on a short term deal he presumably wouldn't be doing much with the structure of the club which could be looked at too....

I'm relaxed, he'll has one task - to get us up. If he does it, there will likely be a bonus, a contract extension and/or offers from other clubs impressed with his ability with us. If he doesn't get us up, he loses reputation and his attractivness to other prospective employers and gets no bonus. Suspect his focus might be similar to that of us fans

Wow.

They've printed some pish in recent times like the story about the ned with the tag getting it up us after he scored against us. That surprised me too.

Maybe this reporter is getting back at his bnb colleague.

Anyway, 16 year old or whatever it gave me a laugh and i've no problem with the cunts printing a headline to put it out there. Thought it was the best written thing i've read on DCT online or in print ever.
