So as Jackie moves further towards the inevitable, I'm interested in seeing who is out there we can get?
If we pay Jackie off, then that almost writes off being to take a manager such as Tommy Wright from St J as we aren't going to pay two loads of compensation.
Some old fans favourites have also been mentioned, Badger has coached at a high level but is he ready to lead - I would take a gamble. Big Dunc would certainly be a high profile choice and would have the players too scared to step out of line but he's a no for me, unlike Badger, he hasn't got the coaching experience.
Former SPL managers out of work - Pressley, Calderwood, Butcher, Mixu - of these I would like to see Mixu. Was doing a good job at Kilmarnock before leaving for the Finland gig and was very tactically astute I always thought. And having been an international manager, I would hope this would mean he has a good European wide scouting network in place.

Honestly, all those names fill me with dread, particularly Pressley. As much as I think Jackie has to go, none of those would do any better IMO.

I think Pressley would be the ideal choice. He has had a similar career path to Mcinnes and he did get down to the final two when Houston left. It doesn,t matter if he comes across a dour git results are al that matters get the brown brogues in the Tannadice dugout.

Stuart McCall

Mixu would do a good job I reckon. Not adverse to Stuart McCall either.

Mixu for me, he sounds very tactically aware and I would like that for a change.

Mixu or John Hughes for me.

Butcher, McCall or Tommy Wright!

The main reason I've not been vocal about wanting Jackie out (and I do want him out) is down to that list of names that we might get as a replacement.
Mixu, McCall, Calderwood, Wright, Butcher, Hughes, Pressley...... fuck me.
And I can't think who we could get that is available and would see Tannadice as a good career move at present.
Frustrating times to be a United fan.

Would take Mixu on short term deal till the end of the season, see how it works out for both parties, if successful then give him a longer term deal, if not then we start looking elsewhere again.

Managers i think are looking and there rough win ratio( im bored lol)
Alan irvine 38.74%
Paul lambert 39.09%
Alex mcliesh 46.14%
George burley no average but notably 75% @ hearts
Malky mkay 36.76%
Billy davies 40.71%
Steven pressley no average but 43.75% falkirk
Paul dickov 30% roughly
Jimmy c no average but roughly 40 % @ scottish clubs managed
Darren ferguson 41.83%
Not out of work but luggy average of 40%
I aint picking any of these and it may be dated but out of scottish managers who are jobless these are ones with some experiance.

There's a lot of good options out there as well as a lot of poor ones.
Badger for me, would also take Jim McIntyre but can't see us paying comp to any club if we've already paid out to get rid.

Butcher is the manager of Newport and look where they are in league 2
