Sad news.
Incredible talent which shone too briefly.
RIP Ralph.

Maybe as a tribute we could get the '83 Championship team to lead the teams out on Saturday and take part in the minutes silence on the centre circle?
If wee Jim is too unwell to lead the team out could ask Walter Smith to do it (tin hat on).
It's time to Unite the support/club.

Sad news, one of the real Utd legends gone far too early.
Whatever else he did or didn't do in life, he won the league at Dens and that is what it's all about.
RIP Ralph.

Was working in St Andrews the day. Was working on my todd, and it was starting to get dark. Waiting on my gaffer fae Forfar, who doesnae follow football, coming to say time to go.
Standing there on my todd, lowering a 6m bracing, when out the blue hears the gaffer shouting "what's this ah aboot some United boy Ralphie". Shat mysell, froze and dropped this 100 kilo brace with an almighty clang, and he dropped his chips. When I climbed down, he said he thought I had a stroke. He'd heard a couple of boys in the chipper speaking about it.
He didna understand the significance of what he'd actually said, until I explained. And he was right. He was some boy Ralphie.
Won't sleep a wink the night. What a damn shame.

You know I think he's the only member of that league winning side I've never met and I'm sitting here holding back tears absolutely gutted. Footballs a powerful game.

Sad how people's life's and achievements are really fully appreciated after they die.
Ralph was fully appreciated for what he did for oor club before. Others will join that feeling and those too young to have it naturally will connect now.
I feel for his family and the people he played with, oor league winning squad.
Hope we can unite through respect and sadness to bring something positive together through fans and club for his family and people with his condition.

Very very sad. Feeling very emotional about this. He was responsible for some amazing times for the Arabs lucky enough to follow United during these times. Forever a United legend.
Thanks Ralph . You helped create one of the best days in my life . I will never forget your goals and talent.
Ralphie Ralphie Milne .... on the wing..................
Rest in Peace.
PS Great idea above TEK. Hope someone at the club picks up on this.

Bit on club website is very good.

He scored some crazy peachie goals. This one in the link, number 3 v the dee after being involved in the first 2 is an all time favourite of mine.
Plus some longer footage of the league win at dens. As sad as we are we must remember what Ralph did.

His chip in that 5-2 win v The Dee is just sublime.

Best player in Scotland never to have actually been capped for Scotland?
I can't think of any better tbh.

Been going through some clips on YouTube with my dad who is visiting. What a player and what a team back then eh.
RIP and condolences to his family.
On behalf of the old man, thanks for the memories and may you rest in peace.

Having a wee read of Ralphie's wiki page there. How many career goals did he score? = 83.
Quite fitting.

RIP Ralphie. Some player and a great Dundonian.

Sad to hear this sad news. Although I wasn't quite old enough to see Ralphie in the Tangerine, upon my first viewing of the Jim McLean Years VHS, it became very appartent how key a player he was in United's goldern era. My thoughts go out to all of Ralph's family and to all the United fans who were lucky enough to see him play as I know you have all truley lost an idol and hero.

Good idea , but unfortunately some of them wouldn't manage to be there

Agree it would be a good idea TEK but guys like Heggy, Holty, Maurice and and Luggy obviously have their own managerial commitments and Kirky has a coaching job doesn't he? Even just Hamish on his own would be enough of a symbol though. If you read Ralphy's book it does become apparent that him and Richard Gough were good mates at the time probably due to being the same age and tended to go out in the Ferry together on a Saturday night. Dunno if he'd be up for it though.
The main thing is there is a minutes silence. This is what minutes silences should be for but unfortunately are overused in football these days.
