Good choices mate. Like the Dundee tilt as well.
Cheers, I never realised I was such a Dundee music fan til I did this.
Nae Danny Wilson either!
Online!
What an eclectic mix T6!!
I almost plumped for 'Harvest' as well but opted for 'After The Goldrush' instead.Could change my mind on an almost daily basis about which one is better tbh.
Another enjoyable read that.

I know exactly who that guitarist is! Stu 'Lonesome Guitar' Ivins.
I missed them when they were doing the clubbie/pub circuit unfortunately. Would have loved to have been at those nights. Saw them for the first time at Eddie Marra's tribute gig in the Bonar Hall which was 1991 I think. Managed to catch them a good few times over the years, always a great night!
There was talk of a reunion gig this year but I don't think that's happening now.
Cheers for the comments folks. I really enjoyed doing it. Paul Simon, Tom Waits and The Beatles are all rightfully furious though...

Led Zep meant nothing to me at that time. They didn't feature in th albums that I found in cupboards around my house so the blues riffs and intricate time structures were all new to me. There's times on that record where it feels like they're just showing off. Listen to the bass and drums on 'Daybreak' for example. For as good as Britpop was, it didn't produce a single musician who has gone down as one of the greats. The Roses produced at least two, arguably three. This album really showcases that talent. It seems more people are 'getting' it as the years pass. Defintely not as iconic as its predecessor but defintely a more interesting listen. I'd argue it's aged better as well. The first album now sounds a bit thin to me. This would still sound fantastic released today.
I certainly get your point about the first album. I was playing it on Friday and for whatever reason, it just didn't have the same oomph as before, like it was missing a layer. I don't think I've listened to the Second Coming in around a decade so perhaps it is time to go back.
Interesting point you have made about britpop musicians. I've tried to rattle my brain and I guess the only person I could think of that has any real creditability in terms of their instrument playing is the Longpig's guitarist Richard Hawley Although certainly not regarded as one of the greats he is still a well-respected musician all the less and his subsequent recruitment to Pulp and long spanning solo career is testament to that.

Yeah, I never listen to the debut album anymore, which is odd considering I never had it off for years in the 90s. I still get a wee jolt of something when I hear them on the radio though. Suppose your first band is kind of like your first lass!
After I posted it, I thought of Graham Coxon. Not appreciated as much as he should be, maybe because he never indulges in the big solo, but he's an excellent guitarist.

Just got around to reading this as I have been away and just been dipping in to vote and read the Transfer dealings.
Good interesting read Trap 6, some good local bands.
St Andrew was excellent to see live, and very humorous, I also understand what you were saying about when the View were on the verge of making it, there was a real buzz around the town, the energy when they played was electric.
Thanks for the nomination.
