Brilliant documentary on ALBA at 11pm

The Jock Stein documentary (first aired in early summer) is excellent and well worth a watch to anyone who is of a certain vintage.

Great interviews with former Scotland players etc.

Aye it was quite a sad watch.

I respected him as a tremendous Manager.

FWIW i think all the stuff about his knowledge of Peter Torbett's wrong doings is bullshit perpetuated by bitter Hun bastards. It's not as if he can defend himself against it now.

The documentary showed him as a family man who did have morals and turned his back on the 'friends' who sadly turned out to be bigots.

Re: Brilliant documentary on ALBA at 11pm

Apparently Stein and Mclean grew so close during Wee Jim's spell as his Scotland No.2 that Big Jock flew out with the Utd party as a show of support for the ill-fated European Semi Final 2nd leg in Rome.

Does anyone have any pics of Big Jock and Wee Jim pictured together during scotland duty ?i wouldn't mind adding that to my DUFC pic gallery on the laptop.

I'm sure there's one or two in Jim's book, the Jim McLean years Tek but I'll have to ask the mod to send them on to you, cause quite frankly i don't have a clue. May I add yet!

Re: Brilliant documentary on ALBA at 11pm

Oh talking about Alba, i never saw that documentary but did see the one on Aberdeen in their jaunt to the European Cup Winners final in Goteborg and must admit I thought it was brilliant (change into chainmail!) bearing in mind it was a few years before United went there for our U.E.F.A cup final i thought the footage was funny and the interviews no bad too. Worth a watching if you've no seen it, the nick some o thier fans were in as they disembarked from the ferry and didnae even notice the manager waiting to welcome them back typifies Scottish football fans in the 80's. Those were the days where two wee clubs nearly
conquered Europe and thought it would last for ever!
