This article sums up the scale of the problem. Mental.
Any time soon the NRA will come out the woodwork and say it wouldn't have happened if the crew were carrying guns instead of cameras or if they had an armed escort or something.

No replies. Everyone desensitised to it obviously. The wife and I saw the video on the news last night that the boy filmed calmly walking up behind them before pulling out the gun. Shocking, I thought.

When does it become a mass shooting? More than one?
Live on TV is a new one though , the fucking nutbags of the world are trying their best to outdo their predecessors in the variance of shock.
the gun 'control' in the States is non existent -this will continue to fly as a problem.

The generally accepted figure is four, including if the shooter tops himself. The FBI consider a mass shooting to be if at least 3 people get shot. That article highlights how Wednesday was day 238 of the year but there had been 247 mass shootings of 4 people or more in that time. More than one a day. Americans are mental. I'm amazed any country wants anything to do with them.

I've worked in texas a few times and the guys uvd met were gun crazy.
Guys wear camouflage as a fashion item, one I knew had over 60 guns. They would not give up their guns or the right to own them though - would literally take 3 or 4 generations to get it anywhere near under control - all because it's in the constitution.
To be fair a lot of Americans do use guns for hunting - not my cup of tea but at least they have them for a reason.
Lastly, we (all brits) walked into a gun range and without any experience, hired a few guns, with no restrictions and no training.ace fun shooting at targets but the thought that any old nut job can stroll in and get a gun is pretty disturbing

When it comes to America and Gun crime, the sad fact is that everyone has became desensitised to it LAO.
I mean several poor innocent kiddies were tragically shot dead at Sandy Hook school.Even that shocking event wasn't enough of a national low to make the American public DEMAND they're banned.
FWIW i reckon Obama is a good guy and wants to put tough restrictions on purchasing them. But he knows he'll never have the support to pass it through congress (even in his own party).
It's a fucking sad state of affairs. And one that looking at it from afar you can only wonder what the fuck it would take for them to change their psyche as a nation.

No replies doesn't mean people support it or are desensitised to it LAO, its not something I wished to discuss further after seeing it all over the media. Any sane person should know what right and wrong is, and some nutters who are pro gun are saying that the video was fake and it was staged. How can you argue against someone who would even think like that!?
I feel terrible for everyone affected, but it's not something I wished to talk about on here. But I am a grumpy bastard this morning, so I apologise if I offend

I don't own a gun but in a country where criminals acquire guns illegally I think it's perfectly reasonable that people have a right to lawfully defend themselves. God forbid someone breaks into my house with a gun, I'd have no fucking chance of stopping him with a 5 iron would I?
Fact is, VAST majority of these heart breaking events occur in what they call "gun free zones" such as scools and movie theaters. You won't stop mad men and criminals acquiring guns by making them illegal. The uncomfortable truth about this problem over here is that places like schools and libraries will be targeted unless they are equipped with at least one armed guard.
It's more complicated than you might think. Taking everyone's guns away is not the answer.
LOA - mental statements there about USA. Don't get me wrong, I've lived here 15 years and currently all my mates here are still British. Fuck me though, sure am glad Churchill and Thatcher decided to work with them.

Mentalists. With guns.

Another mass shooting yesterday, this time at a college in Roseburg, Oregon. Obama at the end of his tether (see YT link). More guns is the answer though. Prefectly reasonable.

As I said above (after the previous incident) I believe Obama would ban the sale of hand guns tomorrow if he could.
But he knows he will likely never get enough support to pass it through congress.
Sad state of affairs. And no doubt we'll hear the old line that everyone should have a gun as 'protectiion'.

45 College Campus shootings in a year! Stoopid Americans stuck in the late 1700s.
Their President was a man defeated and heartbroken by frustration by the power of the NRA in Congress and the Senate.
Chainmail if someone does take up his challenge to publish the death stats versus domestic terrorism post them up please in case I miss them.
Stay safe!

Guy was apparently singling out Christians. I honestly think the President doing these sort of on the spot press conferences without knowing half the facts to be pretty deplorable.
Dont know what the answer is. What law do you think would prevent this type of thing other than rounding up every registered gun in america? Then you have a situation where the only guns in posession of citizens are unregistered and illegally owned? by presumably criminals.
I said this before but it's no accident these things keep happening in "gun free zones". You go to any school in america and you see the sticker on the door when you walk in. Was there when I dropped my boy off in the morning. Its madness in my opinion to advertise to potential maniacs out there that they are going to encounter absolutely f uck all via way of resistance. They know the more people they kill, the more publicity they get. So stands to reason they go the path of least resistance almost 100% of the time.
So I would like to see what law the President things he can put on the books that would have prevented yesterday from happening? It's a lot more complicated than gun control & Oregon already has laws on the books.

Something doesn't meet the eye about this latest massacre.
Cover-up?

Wouldn't be the first time in American history, or the second, third etc

Of course it is. Read there was an FBI plan to entrap some dodgy characters and the "shooter" was part of the plan. Whoever he was found out by the folk who he was trying to entrap and got killed. FBI do there usual and blame a lone gunman.
Incidentally have you ever seen the film or tv series shooter? Not exactly the same as this horrible incident but you can get an idea of what can be planned.

No,haven't seen that B+A.
I will check it out thanks.👍
Looking for something new to watch.

Mass fatalities in yet another school massacre. This time in Florida.
When the fuck will Americans wake the fuck up and demand proper anti-gun legislation from their President rather than just hollow 'thoughts and prayers'?
Offline
Thoughts and Prayers. Just an empty phrase that the NRA mob over there love to spout when this happens.
There's already deflection "let the families grieve, it's too soon to debate" then there will be the usual to and fro between the two sides then it'll all go quiet until the next massacre.
Greatest country in the world my arse.

Isn't it amazing that doing nothing about gun control since the last incident, has done nothing to prevent it happening again.
