The 7th 'castaway' we are joined by is Edmond Dantes.
Eddy you have been destined to spend the rest of your days on an isolated island somewhere in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean.
In an extremely lucky quirk of fate however there is big package washed up on shore.......when you open the said package you find a cd walkman, headphones and what would appear to be a 50 year supply of AA batteries.
If you could pick any 8 albums to take with you on the Island...what albums would those be Sir? And can you give a small insight into why you've chosen each one please?

You can take 2 books with you.
1 that you've previously read and 1 that that you always meant to get round too.
Which books and why?
Offline
Which person would you miss the most?
Offline
If you could take one Dundee Utd match on video to watch over and over again...what match would you choose?
Offline
What one other inanimate object would you take with you on the island if you could?
Offline
What one alcoholic drink would you take with you if you could?
Offline
What ONE album would you save if the tide started washing them away and you only had time to retrieve just one?
Offline
And finally as the sun set on the Island for the final time in your life what song would you like to play out?
Edmond, I thank you Sir.

A golf club (not a putter)-i'd wile away the days hitting wee stones into the sea , unless you could also furnish me with a 50 year supply of golf balls too.

Tried to pick my favourite 8 albums of of all time -which is very difficult to do so there is 4 here , which will probably change anyway and 4 albums that remind of me of times , not necessarily good times, just ones that stick in my head for some reason. Im not gonna say which album falls into which category but you can probably guess..
Moon Safari
This is a weird one ,was at college one day in Edinburgh – I got the train through to Waverley one day I’ve missed it, on the next one and get into Edinburgh later, so I’m walking along Princess St and say to myself fuck the first lesson –I’m gonna have a good look around in Virgin/HMV was probably in both –they had these listening booth things at that time, this album came out that actual day –so I’ve tried out the booth –Air? wha the fuck are they? Never heard of them -I say to myself and put on the headphones –album starts I’m thinking this is not bad at all –get to about track 5 take off the earphones , hang them up , take a CD off the shelf and go and buy it. Quality album –and was unexpected.

Apologies the creation of goth approaching
Pornography
This is very much an acquired taste but to me its fucking awesome. Supposedly written on copious amounts of Guinness and speed. Robert Smith came out the other side of this with the big hair and lipstick before this he was normal looking bloke –what happened in those days in the studio was magical. Coming off Seventeen Seconds through Faith into this all 3 albums absolutely nail it but I can’t pick 3 The Cure albums.so have opted for this. Starting off with 100years which I’m still convinced is the most upbeat track on it –lyrics about slaughtering pigs may belie that theory though –then into A short term effect , the Hanging Garden –the drums on these are absolutely astounding , Siamese Twins-slower paced, drums driven, again magical nonetheless-then into the masterpiece of the The Figurehead –this wins on every front –the lighter (almost) A Strange Day with its perfect guitar into Cold and the almost spoken title track –speaking about drowning in the shower it will never be re-created and i love it-8 perfect pieces of art

Graceland
This was the first album I bought on cassette ,I think, the single You Can call me Al was certainly the first 7” I bought –remember they days 7” singles- anyway the guitar on some of the tracks –is epic-I put this on now and still know every word , a quality album. Seen live at Edinburgh Castle in 2000 he’d have been about 60 or that –knocked it out there like 25 years younger

Let It Come down
I have all Spiritualized albums –he goes all wanky at times but Jason pierce has nailed this baby all the way through –the album after the much acclaimed ladies and Gentleman we are floating space –this album arrives in 2001 with the guitar pieces intwined with a full orchestra and him a few more years on the heavy drugs since jamming with Dr John on the previous outing –its overblown its majestic I bought all the CDsingles from it. It starts rock , it goes into blues , back into rock ,then reverts into orchestral reflection in the most –referring to rehab , the straight and the narrow and the tracks Out of sight and I Didn’t mean to hurt you –are the best crossovers rock/orchestral pieces ive heard –this wins on every level this album –Won’t get to heaven is my favourite track –he’s not created anything close since –this albums comes with me most definitely.

Sorry Massive Attack I couldn’t pick your best album so I’m gonna take this instead –its quality –I bought this with a student grant I got for my only year I done at University –you got them in 3s, for the 3terms ,the first one was £47 –lol meant to last for 3 months or that –was spent that day on CDs on this, Kraftwerk Man Machine and I forgot the other 2 albums I bought that day –this was a better education than going University –which was jacked in by the following February –6 months of solid golfing followed before I got a job –which believe it or not is still the job I do today. Ah 94/95 won cup then relegated the memories –this was a soundtrack to that if you like.

Actually
Had to put some pop on here , this was a favourite at the time. 2 No1 singles when the charts meant something –again I don’t think there is bad song on it at all. Still think its their best work by far. Heart is probably one of my favourite ever songs and I don’t know why.

Hot Shots II
I love this , I’m not sure what genre it is –there is a bit of everything worked in here . Squares samples the Gunther Hallman Choir–through Al Sharp which I wasn’t sure about at the time but now love it as a track –into Human Being which is probably one of my favourite tracks ever into Gone which is a slow paced lament executed astoundingly into the almost breakbeat until the drums start Dragon ,next track Broke is almost perfect –I’m not sure how those sounds at the start are made before the piano starts so I’ll leave it at that ,into Quiet which this isn’t –builds up to a superb drum driven epic of a track , Alleged is superb starts slowly then tails off magnificently, Life is quality again I can’t quite describe –sounds the like spaceships at the start then turns into a anthem. Last track Eclipse is shite but the strength of the rest more than account for its shiteyness

Ashamed to say i hardly read books -i don't really do fiction , i'll read biographys -the book i'd take is one of the artwork of Salvador Dali - a big hardback bugger -a superb excellent surrealist bastard. the book i haven't got round to reading is Morrisseys autobiography which would go too.
