Also agree.

If it wasn't first game, I'd actually go one further and put Fraser in starting line up instead of Rankin.

Timing is everything with young players like him. Form is related to that and Gauld is an example, maybe Souter was chucked in too early.

Even GMS and Armstrong took a while to be thought well of.
Connolly and Lochhead will get there.

Just no sure that JMac, SD and DJ ken the time. We'd all expect Stevie Campbell to ken the timing but he's no the one that ultimately decides.

Re: Utd v Aberdeen - Sunday 2nd August 3.30pm

Connolly might benefit by having another creative feeder in Sneijder as might the front line.
Think we've replaced Ciftci in Darko. We did best when the opposition didn't concentrate on blocking out our only creative lad.
Ken that Connolly isnae goin to pull the strings but if he's on form he can pull the other teams shape and create gaps to attack.

Re: Utd v Aberdeen - Sunday 2nd August 3.30pm

The side that ended on the field yesterday except McGowan for Dillon.

Re: Utd v Aberdeen - Sunday 2nd August 3.30pm

I'd be happy with the 11 that finished yesterday to start next week. Thought Utd were very lively and looked likely to score in the last half hour, just unlucky not to.

Re: Utd v Aberdeen - Sunday 2nd August 3.30pm

Whatever the line up TEK we will never have a better chance this season of beating them. They play Kairat at 20.45 local time on Thursday night and have to travel through 5 time zones to get home!.They maybe a better team than us this season but playing in Asia then Dundee in less than 72 hours is a massive ask.Its doubtful that they would be able to train before they play us there just isnae time!.

Agreed G.

You seen how lethargic they were on the first game of last season and that was a short journey home in comparison.

Hopefully we can run the legs off them in the last 20 minutes of the match.

Re: Utd v Aberdeen - Sunday 2nd August 3.30pm

I was in Almaty winter 2012 it was -55, when the sheep hit Almaty in August it could potentially be 40•, plus they'll be 6 hours ahead, 7 hours in winter. Took me 7 hours 20 mins to fly to Germany from there, so if they fly direct your not kicking the arse oh a 9 hour flight !

There gonna be fucked after this !!!!

Nice place though

I love watching United on arabzone...

Re: Utd v Aberdeen - Sunday 2nd August 3.30pm

Didna realise the dons had that journey this week. Bra

Making the Europa early stages is actually pretty brutal eh. Worth it if you make it to group stages, but I'd imagine it would cost fortunes  if you never.

Re: Utd v Aberdeen - Sunday 2nd August 3.30pm

And if they negotiate this round 200 miles from the Chinese border they are STILL NOT in the group stages.   All so the rich get richer!

Re: Utd v Aberdeen - Sunday 2nd August 3.30pm

European futba is just a rich members club now. CL is fucking boring now. It's the same sides every year.

Re: Utd v Aberdeen - Sunday 2nd August 3.30pm

We're in a chicken and egg thing with the National coefficient in that unless we go to Summer futba, I canna see any provincial team like us being able to get up to speed and fitness quickly enough to stand a cat in hells chance of doing anything in Europe.  I cannot see how we can ever play against any of the big European guns ever again.  That is only good news for the likes of Barca, coz they will never have to be beaten by us again!!!

Reckon JMac will go with Rankin instead of Fraser. Hopefully see Rodney come on when we are 3-0 up.

Re: Utd v Aberdeen - Sunday 2nd August 3.30pm

The team will be: Zwick; McGowan, Donaldson, Durnan, Dixon; Souttar, Rankin; Erskine, Telfer, Spittal; Bilate

Really does lack pace.
