Makes me sad inside either one of Paton or Rankin are going to be starting games.

Jackie said in the Tully tonight that he will be making changes and giving a few boys who've had less game time a game. Darko a definite starter. Jackie saying he doesn't want to show his hand to Aberdeen scouts. I'd expect Paton, Darko, Muirhead, Connolly and Dillon all to start. Possibly Dave Sneijder and a change of goalie too (McCallum to get a half?). Dowser fit yet? Morris to start training in a fortnight but seemingly unlikely to play for a month.

Nothing to be ashamed of. I doff my cap to anyone who doesn't buy the Tully anymore. Fucking gutter rag these days. Christ knows why I still get it.
Wonder if Anier will see any game time?

I'm not one for all this "he needs a song" stuff but I do feel quite strongly that he needs one. Especially if he's decent. Maybe the end of the theme song with some words other than nana naa na. just saying.

1 nil defeat then.
What's the verdict from those who were there?
Sounded as though Zwick impressed and looks hungry for the jersey too.
I'm a bit concerned at our lack of goals tbh.Just 2 scored in 5 games,no clean sheets either.
We have admittedly been up against good opposition.

Zwick looks good. A couple of dodgy moments coming out to clear the ball but if he gets more confidence he'll become more dominant. Two absolutely fantastic saves though. People have been quite quick to judge without having seen them.
Defence fell asleep for their goal which was disappointing, but they looked solid apart from that. Dixon especially looked good, and to be fair Dillon didn't put a foot wrong.
Midfield in the first half was hit and miss. Paton is pretty crap and spent most of his time battering the ball full pelt at people a yard away.
Scott Fraser looked good though. Definitely someone who will make his mark in our first team.
Muirhead on right midfield was totally wasted. He's never anything other than a striker.
Connolly was brutal. One good run but it finished with him missing the world's most obvious pass to Dixon out wide and instead decided to pass to a heavily marked guy in the middle. Later on he did something similar by missing an obvious pass and giving it to a guy who was clearly miles offside. Apart from that he offered nothing.
Bodul looks good with some good technique, but also seems hot-headed and maybe not match sharp.
Simon Murray looks like he might become a fan favourite, not because he looks like the world's best player but because he'll give you 110%. Definitely a player to bring off the bench for a late impact.
Second half we took off all the midfield and attack and replaced them with Rankin, Souttar, Erskine, Telfer, Spittal and Bilate and the team looked so much better. Slick play, passing moves that resulted in chances and just a general increase in pace. Bilate and Telfer looked good up front together, and Erskine - for all his detractors - looked good and had a great effort well saved.
Souttar was a class above.
So general summing up for me would be that the team that finished the game is likely to be the one that's Jackie's first choice to start the season (with perhaps Bodul and Dave starting) and it's certainly not a bad one. A bit of pace out wide would still be nice though.

Thought we where unlucky no to take a draw tbh.
Telfer unlucky we a free kick
Few good bits of attacking play
Erskine looked sharp as when he come on.
Zwick few great saves.
Offline
Col Donaldson looks a good player. Gives us a bit of the footballing ability Souttar offered us at the back. Erskine was very good as was Spittal who is really growing on me. Bilate started well when he came on but was crap for the last 20 mins. Souttar is on a different planet from us or them.

Agree with this

Aye SGM you've pretty much said what I was gonna!
Zwick did really well as before any save he had a ridiculous pass back fired at him and did well under pressure. He'd no chance with the goal.
LAO liked Donaldson, I thought Durnin was just as impressive and both are comfy on the ball.
Watford are remember an EPL team and the gulf in physique was there for all to see.
All in all I'm much happier than I was and have been. I'm not bothered about the pre season results. I'm excited and bring on the Sheep assuming Putin does not shoot them out of his skies!
An added bonus was bumping into Tangerine Ultra post match!

Im quite surprised in our performances against both qpr and watford compared to the dutch games.

Fook , happy with the showing today apart from no cutting edge and not pressing the attacking team , zwick looked good apart from one shaky moment, Soutar stands out a mile and sorry to say can't see him being here next season , he makes the game look soooo fffffnnnnn easy .but the future is brightish

No wanting ti be negative but I'm still a wee bit concerned with creating chances. So far we have only scored 2 goals in pre season, I'll give Jackie his due he is right when he says we are playing opposition that are way way ahead of anything else we'll play in the league outside of Celtic.
However I didn't see us create anything prior to the introduction of Erskine and Spittal, who I thought both done well, and that is worrying IMO. They're hardly the most consistent players we have and pinning our hopes on Spittal who was fairly anonymous last year is a bit optimistic for my liking, though eh really think he is going to step it up this year.
Hope Sneijder has a bit of imagination and creativity about him, think it's desperately needed.
Thought the defence looked comfortable though falling asleep at the free kick was amateur as phluck I'm prepared to let it go since it is just pre season. Zwick looked comfortable bar his bit of miscommunication with Durnan in the second half, a few cracking saves and will only improve as time goes by. End of the day he's not even kicked a ball in professional football yet.
Final point, Murray is completed wasted when through balls are pinged right into a 6ft 4 centre half. Need ti get the ball in the channels or we may as well leave Murray on the bench.
Still apprehensive about this season tbh, end of the day it's 5 losses, 2 scored, 14 conceded, friendlies or no it's no good signs. Will be happy to be proved totally wrong starting with a 5-0 pumping of Aberdeen on Sunday mind
