Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015 - In/Outs

Any new signings  have to be better than the current 1st team. Thohse sort of players have plenty of offers and will wait for the best one its only the shite players that grab the first offer they get, good things come to those who wait

No one is happy that our budget is decimated again.

But again you know that and are just taking your latest opportunity to have a wee sly dig.

Good for you.

mate come on, you've closed a tit for tat thread already....tbh he has a point....its the biggest debate around the club just now, this stuff about a loss and what if we canna sell players.....which is mair annoying than anything tbh...we've released the dead wood and that covers half a million pound a year i'd guess.....next if anyone decent goes we'll take in cash and buy.......its the arguement sorted...aint it?

Yes closed the thread because it was becoming an embarrassment.(only the 2nd one i've had to close in nearly a year).

Beharder was looking for a bite there, nothing else.

Hopefully this one doesn't descend the same way.

There doesn't have to be any 'arguement',it's peoples opinions at the end of the day.

Funny thing is there has been no over reaction about not signing anyone yet on this thread.

One post from Offshore (which was a pretty normal post).

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015 - In/Outs

So what have we left in the squad. ..

Goalkeeper

Szromnik and mccall um - not sure either is ready - need 1 experience keeper

Defence

McGowan dillon morris dixon spark souttar

1 centre back, experienced. 1 less experienced/lower league centre back. Dillon can cover all over the back line and believe spark can play with fullback position

Def midfield

Souttar, paton, rankin

Covered, I guess - could potentially use telfer in there

Attacking midfield

Telfer, Spittal,  coote, Johnson,  connolly, Erskine,  Smith and fraser.

A lot of kids in there and v little experience.  Erskine better make 90 mins or he can gtf. I'm, although he's improved,  he's not as consistent as a 27yo should be - that's pretty much the peak of his career. Would like to see a driving midfielder in there.

A few of those might be mixed round but you get the drift.
Strikers

Muirhead, anier, Spences  lovechild, moore, bilate

Too many here. Muirhead looked good. Anier and bilate should be binned but will leave a big experience gap up top... get rid of 2, get 1 good Un in

Minimum 4 signings for me, though I'd like 5 or 6... A lot depends on the youth teams, I guess. I don't know them well enough

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015 - In/Outs

From the Tele:
United are in the market for a goalkeeper, a centre-half and, with the news Calum Butcher is on the verge of returning south, a midfielder.

Surely to hell we need a proven goalscorer too? I don't expect to see Nads with us at the start of the season and the rest are either very inexperienced, injury prone (Bilate) or shite (Anier!)

That attacking midfield list is seriously inexperienced, need a couple more senior players in those positions.

At least we're looking for a keeper and not risking Szromnik or McCallum. Neither are good enough.

Lots of work required.

We need another 3 or 4 oot. Rankin and Paton would be top of my list.

Sorry to say I agree with you there Silver.

We could do with a freshening up in there. Something different and more flexible to tactically work with.

Can't see it happening though.

I've always like Pates, does what he does and never bottles it or back down. The laddies commited which is more than can be said for some...

Commitment is great J, but he's so limited it's unreal.

Flexibility is not the current manager's strong point tho.

True mate he is limited but he does a job for us, he slows play down when we're up against it and his passing is usually pretty good. He plays better with good fast direct creative players in front of him, something we've lacked since February R, unfortunately...

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015 - In/Outs

I especially like his speciality ,the wee pirouette he does to get on to his 'kicking' foot.

He's gonna strike oil one day  if he keeps that up.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015 - In/Outs

I'm going to stick up for Paton as i know he has been suffering with Patella issues this season so he has been playing through a fair bit of pain and the op he has had should sort this out.

Season before he was one of the top players so will give him the chance i think he deserves. If he is sorted knee wise i'd see him and Soapy taking the sitting midfied roles.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015 - In/Outs

Fair do's mate, I'm probably being a tad harsh on him tbf. He did have a very decent first season.

I still only see him being there for cover tho.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015 - In/Outs

Slightly off topic but did anyone else see McNamara's latest Arabzone interview?

He's asked about signing a new Goalie to replace Cierzniak and he says when the team comes back he'll need to speak to Hinchcliffe to see if he thinks either of our 3 keepers out of McCallum,Zwick and Szromnik are 'upto it' lol.

I'm sorry, but seriously WTF?That's stuff that should have been sorted out months ago.

It's wee things like that that leave me with absolutely no faith in McNamara.Never seems to react to a situation until it's an emergency.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015 - In/Outs

Paton is rank rotten. He does a job I suppose against some of the shite in the league but against anyone who puts pressure on him he is stinking

Yeah yeah Industrial Estate

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015 - In/Outs

I can honestly say that I haven't seen enough of McCallum, Szromnik or Zwick to know if they are good enough to be our first team goalkeeper this season, and unless we have any Arbroath season ticket holders among us, I don't think anyone else here would be different.

But McNamara and Hinchcliffe should know by now, because they see them in training every day. It's a decision that should have been made before last season finished.
