Thompson

I wonder if our Chairman will do anything this week when he gets back from his latest holiday.

Some news on Stevie Campbell getting a new deal perhaps?

Or anyone of the out of contract players re-signing like Butcher.

How about contract extension for Souttar who can sign a pre-contract for someone in June.

Or what about a statement confirming your intentions?

Or maybe a statement backing your beleaguered Manager?

Hell even just an update on the safe standing you said the club we're looking into would be nice.

Or maybe the announcement of a glamour friendly?

Why not give the fans SOMETHING to show you give a fuck.

Re: Thompson

Agree with all of this, but for the Souttar one. Yes, a contract extension would be good, but I don't think he can sign a pre contract until January 2016.

Maybe announce the Newcastle Jets move is back on and a Glamour  pre season friendly in Oz is our reward lol

Re: Thompson

I definetely get the frustrations - i share most of them - but it seems like things come to a halt when ST goes on his jollies.

We have a property expert, 2 lawyers and a banking executive on the board as well as ST - this is before we even mention David Southern.

I'm not suggesting revolt against the board (obviously) but i don't think, things need to come to a halt every time ST fancies a wee trip abroad. We have what would appear hugely talented professionals onboard from a range of backgrounds who can surely sign off on some of the stuff that needs done?

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Re: Thompson

I don't see any of the players out of contract signing on Tek. Butcher maybe the only one.
Playing Sporting Lisbon in July aren't we? Sure that was part of the Gauld deal.

Any of the above would be interesting and pleasing but I'm not holding my breath until I hear it.

Sounds like you know that's already the case re the day to day shadow board running the club but, quorum or not, there seems to be a problem. Don't know whether it's group dynamics or willingness?

Just posted on another board how after seven years you begin to destroy what you created. He's been in charge round about that long and he's shiwing that he's lost touch with the fans' views - or he's stopped caring. No chairman/owner should have allowed the manager to drift the way he has and to allow the short-term balance sheet to rule every decision you make shows that Tek's last statement is unlikely to be forthcoming. It feels like we're on a long road to nowhere.

Think back to the hopes we all had 12 months ago. Cannot BELIEVE the chairman feels he's done a good job since then.

Re: Thompson

He needs to come out and say whether he's backing Jackie or not.

I'd prefer Cya to Jackie but if the chairman comes out and says "He's staying" at least then we can move on and hopefully start preparing for next season.

Yeah yeah Industrial Estate

Re: Thompson

Did anybody hear Jmac's interview on Radio Scotia at the start of the week?I missed it myself but have been informed he said something along the lines of 'finding out things about some people at the club' of late.Spencey never probed him on it apparently.

No idea if he meant players,Chairman,Directors or whatever but Stephen Thompson's continued silence and lack of presence at the club is very telling for me.

At the moment McNamara+Thompson are having a competition of 'who blinks first'.

Both are intelligent men and know that their stock at the club has never been lower and if the shocking slump continues there can only be one outcome, the Manager and his coaches departing.

Now McNamara isn't going to walk out on a contract that still has to run for what?Another 2 years after this season? Not when he is also on a transfer cut and Ciftci and maybe somebody like John Souttar could be out the door for cash as soon as in just 5 weeks time.

The Chairman knows it will cost hundreds of thousands of pounds to pay off Jmac,Donnelly,Jackson and Hinchcliffe and that is something that would (obviously) be a last resort for the club and himself.

McNamara might turn it around yet.Though i highly doubt it personally. And i honestly think we are in for a very messy Summer whereby we will be looking at major upheaval at the club.

Most of this is the fault of Thompson. He has taken his eye of the ball this season and the leadership you need at the very top at any club (but particulary from a small/medium sized club) has been abundantly lacking.

We continue to drift at the moment.

Question is who's going to grab the wheel again and steer us back oncourse?

I can't disagree, the relationship between the chairman and manager has broke beyond repair I think.

Re: Thompson

And Siebby IF (and it's a big IF at the moment) that's the case, that's 2 successful Managers (to differing extents) that have fell-out with Thompson.

This of course at the moment,is purely conjecture on our (and everyone's part).

The complete silence of any kind from Tannadice at the moment tells me something's brewing though.

Even in recent Arabzone interviews all hasn't seemed right.Established players like Dixon,Paton and Erskine all kinda having digs at the support and all the 'doom'n'gloom' that's coming their way.

Fucking man up and stop this shit NOW.

You pull on that shirt you should be aiming to be a fucking hero at this club club every single weekend, irrespective of the result.

Too many looking for the easy way out and hiding behind the external 'bad vibes' excuse.

Do they think if they were playing badly there would be less bad vibes at another club like Celtic,The Rangers or one of the English top 40 sides?

Or is it maybe the case they think Dundee Utd should only accept a certain level of performance and anything under that isn't really a big deal?

I think it's the latter.

Need winners in ASAP.Too many journeymen just drifting along in their career and Tannadice is the latest port 'o call.

Re: Thompson

What's getting at a lot of the fans is the deafening silence in regards to the club going forward in this very bad slump we are in. Fans hear nothing, get frustrated and start putting 2 & 2 = 5 and all the rumours start to fly around, like I know a friend who is my brothers former room mate who used to work in nandos that Steven Thompson used to go to that told me.... Etc etc.

I'm not asking for an Abraham Lincoln State of the Union address, but would like a small update, anything, that could be positive especially at the end of the season when people are thinking about renewing their season tickets. Just something like Stevie Campbell is in the final stages of contract negotiations and we hope to have some final news in the coming weeks. Just anything!

As for the players having digs at our support, I'll be the first to have a go at the boo boys, but it's a dangerous game if you start calling out your own fans. I wouldn't even go there, it leaves them wide open, and they better play out of their skin if they don't want to warrant any criticism back. Has Dixon been playing well enough to be having digs? Maybe they should look in the mirror first.

Rant over.

Re: Thompson

I don't think the present situation can be assumed any more rationally than that tbh, and by that i mean assume is all we can do as supporters of our Club as we are now being ignored by those in charge of the day to day running of it due to the recent break down in communication between three of the four important parties involved, the board, the management (we assume) the fans, fed & the Trust. Let's at least as supporters not allow the situation to deteriorate into full blown anarchy and offer the olive branch to our players in one last desperate bid to keep them onside, stem the current implosion and start building bridges into being 1 United again instead of 4 war mongering factions of a Club that was making great strides in the game less than 1 year ago.

It's never to late, let's rise above the bog standard modern social problems in life
Let's all stand together again and be 1 United starting with us.

C'mon lads and lassies.

Re: Thompson

Does anybody ken when the Wizard of Oz made his 1st actual 'visit' there, and how much time he's spent there in total. (ie. the number of weeks). Love to ken like.

Re: Thompson

Hard as it is, maybe ST needs us to cut him a bit of slack. His silence may be resulting from personal matters as opposed to club matters. Elsewhere it has been suggested that he owes Bennet a large load of cash and is being pursued for it, and it has also been suggested his domestic/private situation might result in him losing a load of cash? I don't know the truth of these matters, or indeed if there is any truth in them. In one sense it is not right to mention them without any substance, but they could explain the huge change in ST's outlook from earlier in the season when the Club was declared "debt free" and we don't need to sell, to what it has become. The guy may be trapped in a financial stranglehold? Something(s) big has caused the U-turn that's for sure!

Re: Thompson

The numbers represented by the Fed/Trust add up to about 40% of the season ticket base.

I get the club might be in the huff with these guys, but they're ignoring the other 60% as well.

Season tickets at reduced prices till 7th June is fair and well, but anyone swithering will need a bit of encouragement, whether that is changes in the boardroom, management team or pre-contracts etc it needs to happen now.
