Ian McCall: do you feel he let you go too early in your career? Just mid twenties when you left United.
As an aside, I NEVER wanted McCall anywhere near Tannadice.
I felt I was there maybe 2 years too long to be honest - I think I'd gone stale and wasn't playing as well as I knew I could.
Saying that McCall didn't really give me a chance and it was clear from day one I wasn't in his plans. When you go from squad number 7 to 18 on the first day of the season, the writing's on the wall!

Why do you think things never worked for Luggy at Utd as Manager?
He's been successful everywhere else.
Wanted success TOO much perhaps?
United was the toughest job he could ever take - there's too much to live up to after being such a legendery player for the club. I think losing Billy Dodds didn't help him/us and that was a massive turning point for all involved.

Actually Craig you bought my mates and I a drink at Fatties after the 1997 League Cup Final defeat. Thanks and thanks for being so apologetic about the game! What on earth happened that day??? Andy McLaren's absence seemed to snooker us.

How good was it relegating Dundee?
It was good to help Livingstone avoid relegation ;)
As a player, you always feel for fellow pros in that situation as it would be one of the worst days of your career.

Just read the piece on Bowman, brilliant! "He ate all of Thommos sweets and left all the wrappers..."

As well as coaching am I right in thinking you are doing some journalism as well? Also I think you share the same passion and taste in music as a lot of the guys here, so what is your favourite album of all time?
I've got a degree in Professional Sports Writing & Broadcasting and I keep my hand in doing bits and pieces of writing when I have time - not as often as I'd like.
Favourtie album, jeeez....It's hard to top Definitely Maybe - musically and also because it was a time in my life where everything was postive - good memories

You were part of a Utd team that won the U21 league coming through with guys like Paul Gallagher,Steven Thompson and Jim Paterson.
Do you still keep in touch with any of the guys from that era?
I still keep in touch with all of the above to a degree and our paths have crossed throughout our careers. That U18-21 squad was a cracking bunch of boys

Glad you enjoyed it! Poor Rose's head is probably still spinning - wouldn't get away with any of those capers now!

Your blog is a decent read. You're obviously brighter than your usual futba player. What would you have done if you had made it as a pro?
Haha, much appreciated
I've honestly no idea, it's all I ever wanted to do and I focussed everything on acheiving it. At a push, maybe military?

Just registered here guys to say what a gent this man is and will always be a united legend in my mind.
Remember being a young lad and just back from one of the most exciting games of football I had been at. 3-2 St Johnstone game to ensure we stayed up. And once back on hallowed ground that was the top of the hilltown, I seen Craig go into Luigi's - which I believe was a regular Saturday stop off???? Anyway once in and started to tell him what that day meant to a teenage united fan he then paid for my bag of chips and can of coke. Never forget how pleased he was that we had won that day and something you'll never forget.
Nevertheless I proceeded to tell everyone who would listen to me about this including friends. Well turns out my best man in 2011 gets in touch with Craig who duly sent up a photo of him in his missus wedding vail with a message wishing me and the wife all the best. Never a man can go higher up in my estimation.
Anyway my question......
What was your favourite pizza from Luigi's ;-)
Brilliant mate!! I remember it well
You're killing me by bringing up Luigi's - could murder a large margarita, 4 fritter and a can of Vimto right now
When we're back visiting it's always first stop! Visocchis a close 2nd.

Definitely me - I enjoyed that one because he'd been giving it in the papers ahead of the game. It was just one of those perfect tackles that you would hate to be on the receiving end of (I didn't have many of those!)
Still watch Lauchy's celebration on YouTube!

Scooby is a great lad and a good player. I remember him getting absolute pelters from our fans after a game against Aberdeen and I don't think that helped his confidence at such a young age. He was brilliant for our youth team and gave absolutely everything.
