team ratings

Cierzniak - 0.
Dixon - 4 - offers little going forward and suspect at the back
Dillon - 4.5 - not helped.
Fojut - 5 - decent but nothing more
McGowan - 7 - tries, tackles hard but left on his own going up the wing
Erskine - 5 - ran his heart out in first hour - dropped out as it went on
Rankin - 3 - getting worse by the game
Butcher - 5 - started well. Can pass, can tackle
Connolly - 8 - mystified why he was taken off. A real threat
Ciftci - 3 - most infuriating player I've seen at Tannadice in a long time. Has it but doesn't show it
Anier - 2 - gets points only because I don't think we are set up to suit him

Bilate - 2 - offers little
Muirhead - 2 - bought for future profit. Showed little. Young but not ready
Spittal - 3 - not ready but has desire

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Same as Saturday, Erskine strolling about like a lost soul doing fuck all and plays 90 minutes.

Aidan was tiring but still would have offered a lot more.

Re: team ratings

Rado - 2 .Makes 2 cracking saves but gifts them the opener and possibly could have got a stronger hand on their 2nd also.Kick-outs shite as per.

McGowan - 6 Done ok.But just 'ok'.

Dillon 4 - Finished.

Fojut - 5 Is nowhere near as good as some make him out to be.When Morris isn't beside him he's nowhere near as effective.Certainly has the heart at least.

Dixon - 4 Sorry but WTF has happened to this guy?Garbage deliveries and out of position constantly.

Butcher -6 Love his desire and drive. Not much came off for him in the final 3rd.One of our better players though.Unlucky not to score.

Rankin - 5 Plenty of effort but his career on the wane and can't influence games for us anymore.

Connolly - 6 Always looks tricky and dangerous.Quite unlucky on a few occasions when he beat a man or 2 the ball never quite bounced kindly for him.One sublime 40 yard pass to Spittal 2nd half that was just a foot in front of him.

Erskine - 6 Thought he played well tbh and showed desire.Bit baffled as to the criticism above.

Ciftci - 5 Done next to nothing.Threw the towel in for me after an hour.

Anier - 5 No better than Rory Boulding.

Subs -

Spittal - 6 I like Blair.Gave his all and defo moved the ball about with a bit more zip. Also shoulder barged that wee rat Paul McGowan and gave him  dogs abuse. He'll do for me.

Muirhead - 4 Did he touch the ball?150k+add-on's tae.Oooft.

Bilate - 5 Looked miles off the pace.Extra point for wiping out their centre half though.

Re: team ratings

Connolly is brave on the ball but his final ball/decision making has been poor the last two games. Butcher went awol 2nd half. Spittal and Muirhead will be shipped out by Jackies successor...and will not be missed. Erskine was our best player. McGowan put in a lot of work but looked fucked after an hour and this contribited to their 3rd goal. Full season in China catching up with him. Rado can fuck off btw.

Re: team ratings

Erskine had 1 decent run forward 1st half. Every other time he had the ball he gave it away cheaply, and useless when we dont have the ball. Best player?????

Re: team ratings

Him and Connolly actually had a bit of quality on the ball for me. Erskine never hid, still crap mind you. Best of a bad bunch.

Totally disagree.

Thought he had a few good runs with his heid doon and tried to blast by their full back.

Also set-up one on a plate for Ciftci who shot weakly+harmlessly right at Bain.

He also never gave up tonight and was flying into tackles late on.

He showed the desire i want tonight, for me

Re: team ratings

Personally thought what we could do as supporters and stay behind the team last night left a lot to be desired when you look at Dundee, we could if you want learn a lot from them imo, really annoyed atm by the spoilt brat response to a bad run. Been there, seen it, done it and do it again

Hear their shout, hear their roar
They've probably had a barrel of ale and much, much more
Hooray, hooray, hooray, yeah
Over the hill went the swords of a thousand men

Re: team ratings

I'm pissed off with the constant pantomime barracking of our managers decisions rightly or wrongly i don't think it helps at the match itself

I had no problem with the line-up tonight,he had to try something different.

He even subbed Anier at half time when it wasn't working (fair enough).

Bringing on a clearly unfit Bilate for Connolly though was bizarre.Aidan was by far our most creative player imo.A desperate move.

Muirhead is nowhere near ready imo mate.Needs 6 months at least in the development team.

End of the day, team has crashed spectaculary.

Who do you blame?

I would never barrack the manager at the game but its now getting ridiculous. I actually don't mind that he started Anier with the premise that it was 4-4-2. He did the right thing by changing it at ht but Spittal was the wrong boy to bring on then when we gradually got less creative taking Connolly off defied belief.  His plan b appears to involve 3 big strikers geting balls punted at them. Surely he can do better than that????

Re: team ratings

The whole squad has to many one for the future players. A squad of 20 should have about 3 or 4 like this Utd has about 10. Our experienced players let us down. again last night, the passing ability of Rankin and Dillon is woeful. It is a very hard place for a young player to play right now, despite never starting a game and having less than 90 mins in a united shirt Muirhead has now been written off by some.

Thought the fans were excellent yet again last night. Dundee end is usually empty after an hour.

Re: team ratings

Thought McGowan was United's best player along with Connolly, who didn't look particularly tired I didn't think. Any threat completely disappeared when he went off.

Erskine was decent in the first half, dreadful in the second.

I think there's a player in Bilate.

I thought the supporters gave great backing overall but the reactions from a fair few around me were mental. Spoilt brats sums it up perfectly.

I think he could be and can do a turn, but is a bit like Dow in that respect. Just have a feeling he will only show up from time to time. But my biggest problem is I think he is going to be injury prone for the rest of his career. To be getting constant hamstring injuries at his age is not a good sign. Once your hamstring goes once the chances are it will go again and again.
