So, the news is that Neil Donkcaster has been at it again! Some of you may have noted there was some news of SFA officials out in Qatar, well it appears Mr. Donkcaster has also been talking to them on behalf of the SPFL trying to look for a league sponsor. What I have been told on good authority was that the Qataris basically asked if the SPFL could trial summer football in Europe for them (obviously to try help discredit other European leagues to show a switch can be done easily), whether Donkcaster has discussed this possibility with member clubs remains to be seen or whether he was acting on his own (which wouldn’t be a surprise). Anyway, the Qataris basically said how much do you want to which Donkcaster reportedly asked for £1m a year. The Qataris just said – DEAL! Although they are now losing interest apparently as Donkcaster is, well useless. I think they probably just thought he was a conman or at it. If it is true and does go through though this half-wit has sold us down the river for a tin of beans again! This boys negotiating skills are absolutely horrendous if this turns out to be true! Can see why we have had no league sponsor for so long with this clown at the helm.
Now a £1m a year considering we are getting jack at the moment isn’t the worst thing ever, although would say we are worth at least double that. But when you factor in switching over to summer football it should be a great deal more. I mean the figure needs to make it worth any potential hassle.

I despise the prick.
1 million would be a low offer even without tailoring in the switch to Summer football.
That is to sponsor all four league's remember.

i'd take summer football for fuck all tbh

Yeah, thats what makes it all the more ludacris. Nearly 10 years ago it was £8million over 4 years for 12 clubs.

Would welcome summer football, but if we can make money out of it - win win. However if this is true, it's another reason Doncaster should be punted. Should be asking for £1million per club per year to start with, not £1million per year.
Donkey.

I've bored myself and others to death for years harping on about Summer football in Scotland however surely we could achieve a better deal to sponser it than £1m per year if true.

You would think so. Trying to actually think how we would we transfer our league over to Summer? There must be some costs involved and for that along £1m is not enough. As I said it has to be tempting. Have to admit coming round to the idea of summer football more and more. Realistically though only going to be droping 2 months out, so December and January. Although does mean the pitches have a better chance as not getting fucked up during 2 bad months.

I would prefer to drop January and February starting a new season in March or April. The transition to summer football i guess would involve starting the season 2 months later phased over 3 years

He is a prick

Like the idea of summer football though.

Its happening already! Nah, knew this game was potentially coming up, SFA have been licking the arses no end over there. Maybe they are trying to buy out place in the competition in return for favours since its the done thing these days?!
Think I might go with mates through to Edinburgh that one, but just stay in the pub for the game.

Celtic already thinking of going against the renewal of the broadcasting rights due to the lack of money they receive in comparison to the falling attendances for live games at awkward times

Maybe Sports Direct will sponsor the Leagues

Difficult one fir me, living doontheroad it's great to watch the live games, but would be seek if I was a ST holder and kept on getting fucked around by the tv scheduling, I would much rather listen to Arabzone ( when it works ) than see the fans and the clubs being bent over by Sky and BT for a pittance.

Doncaster, Regan and Ogilvie and their underlings have always been far more likely to stop me purchasing a season ticket than anything Stephen Thompson and Jackie McNamara does.
From messing up tv times, to handing advantages to Glasgow teams, in fact I can't be arsed listing how much they've sickened me with regard to Scottish football.
But if Doncaster has been licking shady Qatari bottoms, aided and abetted by Lawwell (and they have been), perhaps United can use these corrupt parties to our advantages. Qatar is, per person by many measures, the world’s richest country. Perhaps the ‘Arab’ sobriquet attached to United might bring helpful investment to the club, if some enterprising supporters could just catch the attention of Mohammed bin Hamman or another influential Qatari figure, who, in all likelihood, are less corrupt than our Scottish football leaders.

Some would settle for Sam Hamman by the sound of it

Apparently it took Donkaster 2 years to get in touch with Qatari FA after with numerous tip offs that they would look to invest if he approached them formally. Anyone going over there with a half decent proposal will get heard. Worth a pop with our 'Arab' tag line - Qatari Airways as new sponsor perhaps?
