The reasons I say "no way back" are coming from what I'm reading on here and Mad tbh.
I'm 50/50 with him at the moment, but the news that came out last week re the bungs or "financial reward" for selling our prize assets seems to have turned a lot of fans against him. (Rightly or wrongly)
In my opinion, he will be away before the season is out.

The thing about him getting a cut of fees makes business sense but football isn't like other businesses. People get emotional about it and what people see is that our team has been significantly weakened and the manager has made dough out of it.
I sincerely hope he can turn it around. I still like the guy. I just can't see it. It feels like the last few weeks of Houston's reign tbh

It certainly doesn't make business sense to reward him for selling players that were already at the club when he arrived.
I also like JM, and absolutely hate turmoil like this. Not sure others feel the same tho.

It's pretty sad considering where we were 15 months ago. Guess the reality was that the players were always going to leave. Doesn't make it any easier to take though.
Getting fed up of football tbh

McNamara failed to secure European football with an absolutely ridiculous squad. Cup final papered over the cracks. This season started pretty well. Looked as if we could kick on with a lot more steel in our squad. Wrong. I feel sorry for him in regards to players leaving. Him pocketing money sours that slightly.
He's terrible at subs. Too long to change a game. He cannot organse a defence - international defender ffs. We seem to play poorer after half time a lot. Weird. He continually playing Paton/Rankin is absolutely mind boggling. Go over to Pie and Bovril, we get the utter pish ripped out of us for playing the "comedy act".
He's done for. Hopefully he can continue his fine Derby record by winning on Wednesday and then leaving. I woud not be against Campbell taking the reigns until summer.

A lot of fair points there.

1. Wouldn't depend on anything read on mad or here tbh.
2. Going by official statements, firstly I'm astounded the Trust released it before this Thursday's AGM whereby it may not reflect it's member's opinion. Secondly, I can never agree that bonus for business success should come before football success but that's ST's fault, not Jackie's. Thirdly, as stated before, I see no point in a civil war when one side has absolute power.
3. Really believe no potential, and achievable, replacement would be any better.
4. In my opinion, I'd like him to rank up with GK and JYM for service and record.

Wee bit unfair Bugsy...tbf it would be a serious knee jerk to get rid of jmac but there's something not right and something brewing...only natural to discuss it....im totally torn between him staying and building again as he deserves full backing for the work he's already did...and a fresh start as he's simply not got it....i really don't know

Not talking about knee jerk reaction, I'm talking about negativity and piss poor timing. Going by official statements, Jackie has been outed as gaining from transfers. I maintain any gain should be from football success but we are where we are and Jackie has NO say in outgoing transfers. He's doing the the job he was engaged to do, any criticism, if required, should be directed at ST.

It's getting even more madesque now because I was asking TEK if MY head was in the clouds due to the altitude reference.

Opinions are always valued, and there is no law to say that we cant disagree here, as long as it doesnt degenrate into schoolyard slanging then its all good, this hasnt happened here and I hope it never does.
Seems like there is a real split in the fan base just now regarding JMac and ST, and we obviously have supporters of both views here. The thing that really comes across on both sides is the passion we have for our own personal point of view and our club. That is the most pleasing thing, we are all adults here and we can take the difference of an opinion with the comfort of knowing that the other person has that much devotion for the club.
At the end of the day every person wants whats best for the club, and in my eyes that means that everybody is right.

I am neither in Trust or Fed. I am not pro Thompson. No one speaks for me. Truth is that these questions probably did need asked but maybe it would have been better to wait until end of season rather than on the eve of an important match. When United made the statement I wish the Trust/Fed had waited till the dust had settled before responding.
None of the guys I go to the game with, and there about 10 of us, are in the trust or Fed. We were speaking about the statement. General consensus was that majority aren't happy with Jackie getting a cut of fees although most were uncomfortable with the statement.
We're all renewing though.

agree mate and i try and stay away from the politics regarding the club and just have an opinion on what they're paid to do (well...meant to be)
ps, another pretty damming rumour from those itk was that shifty was also lined up for celtic in january but jmac went tits...so we held on for the time being...so he must have in influence in who goes and when

You were on your high horse a bit imo mate.
This is an unofficial site as you well know. So,yes, there will always be similarities to Mad.
Would be serious 'head in the sand' material if we weren't discussing on here what everyone in the pubs, workplaces up in Dundee were anyway.

Anyone had a look on mad last couple of days? This place is as far from it as possible for a Utd internet forum.
Its not ideal that we're discussing replacements for a manager we still have, but I dont think I've seen anyone really blaming him for whats went on, more people just thinking he'll be away because of it. Its a messy situation and he's kind of caught right in the middle of it through very little fault of his own.
That said results have to improve quickly or the conversation will be justified for that reason.

"Anyone had a look on mad last couple of days"
Yip.People slagging off other peoples kids and square go's getting arranged.Utterly pathetic stuff.
That's why i'm a bit unhappy at Bugsy's post above tbh.
We're only discussing a Dundee Utd related topic on here. The day things ended up like that is the day i'd wrap up the forum.

Don't know if we are there yet. Need to get to the end of the season and regroup. A good manager should use something like the last couple of months to better themselves, hopefully this is the case. If any issues exist with Stevie Campbell these should be sorted out, would be a major foux pas to let him leave and always something that would be cast up to Jackie and the boardroom when things are going badly. Don't blame Jackie for the commission thing, he just signed the contract put in front of him. Don't think paying off Jackie and his team and all that goes along with it is a road the club wants to go down, may put us in a desperate position leading to more costly mistakes; something we have got away from over the last 10 years.
ST needs to set the record straight on a number of issues to let the dust settle so we can move on from this, as we have seen sections of the support will keep going until they get answers. This is not good for us, the media love this shit and it is very damaging. We have always been a well run club with people at the heart of it doing what they feel is best for it (rightly and sometimes wrongly), hopefully we continue to be so.
