Letting Watson+Townsend depart

Thought they were bad decisions at the time.

Now looking monumentally bad.

Dixon has no competition at all and is currently not deserving of a starting jersey at Left Back.

McGowan i really rate, but doesn't get forward as Watson did.

Would definitely have kept an experienced, solid pro like Keith at the club till seasons end at least.

Re: Letting Watson+Townsend depart

townsend seamingly not costing us a bean but jackie fell out with him sends him down the road and brings in an ex player who hasnt been what he was in his previous stint at the club for a high wage..

Now id assume hibs are paying a fair chunk of watsons wage but will it all but cover mcgowans?

MCgowan has been a no bad signing

Re: Letting Watson+Townsend depart

Its our inability to create a fucking chance that's getting me...not our full backs...we've hardly had a shot on goal in the last month

Stobiev, it's the system Jackie always plays, imo.

But he hasn't got the players for that system now, which is the only one he appears to use. This relates to the other thread about centre forwards, and why they all seem to be failures under Jackie.

Nevertheless, I'm unsure how you would describe his system.

Re: Letting Watson+Townsend depart

Connolly had at least 3-4 chances to shoot but dily-dallied on it. A natural striker would've shot on sight.  The downside of playing 4 attacking midfielders and no strikers.

Re: Letting Watson+Townsend depart

I think this is the players getting better the longer they have been away. Watson always gave 100% but was unable to stop crosses coming into the box, Townsend was a limited player who will find his level around league 2 in england. We are all pissed of after yesterday but would I swap McGowan and Dixon for Townsend and Watson would I f###.

Who was saying anything about swapping them? Not me.

What i'm saying is that Dixon has absolutely no competition and is currently playing week in week out regardless of how poor his form is.We weren't even paying a penny in wages for Townsend which makes punting him look even more of a bad decision.

McGowan i like,but again,has no competition.

Dillon covers both positions and Centre Half when required to do so and available, but i think we can all agree, sadly,he is no longer the answer to our problems.

For all Watson's faults at least he tried to get forward and chipped in with the odd goal.

Re: Letting Watson+Townsend depart

Tek if Watson and Townsend were still here its highly unlikely that McGowan or Dixon would have been added to the wage bill, we wouldn't want the chairman being accused of making any rash financial decisions.
I know its all about opinions but I feel our fullbacks are better than they were.
