Re: The way forward

I wouldn't mind bringing in a proper old fashioned centre half just like we did with Darren Dods.

Re: The way forward

Dods was in the same mould as Wright, McPake & Mackay, anyone who thinks differently is in denial.

Re: The way forward

I suspect if we signed the entire St Johnstone back 4 or the entire Aberdeen back 4 they'd be making the same mistakes as our current defence within 6 months.  The problem lies with a) the manager b) the goalkeeper who inspires nervousness all-round c) the defensive midfielders who don't offer adequate protection.  With better coaching and a good kick up the arse our defence could be decent.

Agree.

There's no way the likes of St.Johnstone and ICT have better players than us 'pound for pound'.

The blame lies squarely at the Managers door.

Even with players like GMS,Armstrong,Gauld and Robertson in our arsenal we were underperforming in certain crucial games.

Jackie,Donnelly,Jackson and Hinchcliffe OUT.

Re: The way forward

They 4 are nippy sweeties too

at Schiphol pre-season on way back home -we'd (me and PATTHEARAB) been to McD's ,the first team squad sitting beside us -we finished our Chicken McBigMac or whatever the fuck it was -came down the escalator JMac and his bummers came walking towards us -Pat goes jokingly 'better sort that out Jackie -all your first team are upstairs scoffing mcDonalds' want to see the stare he got from all of them. Interaction with fans -nul points.

Oh, what came of the things we once believed?

I get that feeling about most of our club just now.

Starting with the Chairman Eddy

Re: The way forward

Son in law flew back from Barcelona to Edinburgh yesterday. I picked him up at Turnhouse, and I'd never have guessed who came off the same flight as him, but none other than Ian Cathro. You can read into that what you want. Mibbee readin too much into it. Mibbee phuck all in it.

Agree with that, I said in another thread that if Levein had our back four in training for a few weeks, there is no way they'd be shipping the goals they have been.

Re: The way forward

When you look at our defence it should be better. The fact that it isn't is squarely at the feet of the management team.

Yeah yeah Industrial Estate

Should have asked him if he was over to have talks with utd or if he was nipping back to scotland to visit friends and family for a few days

Absolutely, but CL's attitude was we don't lose a goal we don't lose the game. Houstie, sharing the same mantra, then unshackled some of the flair players defensively and had some orgasmic success. Jackie then extended that freedom and improved the style (with the players available at the time) where the attitude became we'll score more than them (an attitude shared 100% by me) and it was glorious.

Now, the players available (or left behind?) don't lend themselves to option 3 so we're going to have to consolidate with a style something like Houstie (didnae want tae say Houstieesque ) until the future flair gems are uncovered (1 or 2 prospects in development in the next couple of years is'nt going to do it).

There was a time when I thought Fojut could only perform well with Morris at his side but now I'm not so sure.

Re: The way forward

We binned Watson and Townsend for supposedly better options. McGowan has been ok Dixon has been poor. Both are good pros but they haven't really improved the defence.

Buck for me stops with the manager here. It looks like he's tried to buy a decent defence rather than work with them. It's really worrying

Watson was a good honest pro with the heart of a lion and a superb attitude. But he couldn't stop a cross and I actually lost patience with him before Jackie, although I would've kept him for cover (Watson that is ).

There you go, proof I can criticise Utd players.
