There are times when he is really good and a stand out journalist. There are times when he's a complete hack. He once told me to fuck off in a boozer in Edinburgh as well. He's about 65% ok IMO

I remember Keith Jackson years ago saying he had a 'soft' spot growing up for United, same with Jim Traynor and now look at the pair of them, one who regularly writes hack pieces about our club to suck up to Rangers fans (remember the match report from Kilmarnock a few years ago when he tore us a new one), and the other put all his eggs in one hun basket left his job sold his soul to the devil, only to have it flushed down the toilet months later, talk about backing the wrong horse.

However I have always had a 'soft' spot for Spiers, always very honest and if we have been shite he says we have been shite (see recent St Johnstone game), but he is one of the few journalists out with our Jim Spence that can actually write about the positives of our club on a regular basis. I can't imagine the shite he has to put up with from his managers and colleagues and fans in the west coast for that.
