Shite, but hardly a surprise on that pitch
We owe nothing to any other team in the league, we should've started Stirton, Adams, SCH maybe another one or two, or kept a winning team on the pitch.
If we played more kids, fans would be more understanding, cut a bit of slack, accept that it's about the bigger picture.
JG has backed himself in a corner. He said the priority was to be 7th and, iirc, he wouldn’t give players games for the sake of it.
Fair enough I couldn’t see many young players in with a shout for the derby but yesterday was a prime opportunity as we were unlikely to get anything even with our ‘strongest’ team.
so now in a position of playing our ‘strongest’ team v Aberdeen, lose that we then need to play our ‘strongest’ team v livi even though it’s not performed then we end up having to play our ‘strongest’ team v St Mirren and the younger players who are still on the books for next season are overlooked or given a buckshee 10-15 mins.
I appreciate there’s a difference in the prize money but if we aren’t going to give a player opportunity then what’s the point. Stubborn as ADS says.

Tbh, I think Scottish teams should just bin the whole thing entirely, Rangers and Celtic included. If English teams want young Scottish talent, let them pay and be responsible for the entirety of scouting and developing them from a young age. They are the ones who are awash with cash. They also appear to have better coaching and facilities. Scottish teams can then pick up those who are let go at ages 18-21. What's the point in us paying to coach bairns from age 8 to 16 only for them to fuck off having never/barely played a first team game? I am aware Kai hasn't actually been with Utd all that long but plenty others have and we've invested a lot in them for no real benefit in a football sense and only a token financial return.
Not your point I know but going for a weeks trial somewhere counts for sweet FA.
On your point if I’ve read what you’re saying correctlyAll that will happen is these kids will play boys club football which may be better for the many kids who are ‘shirt fillers’ if you're expecting an academy to churn out loads of first team standard players you’re wide of the mark.
likewise if you're expecting English clubs to develop kids in Scotland from a young age you're in cuckoo land.

Pretty sure both tiers. I'm in the top but sure there were bottom tier tickets available too when I got mine.

There’s 5 games. Rangers Celtic and Aberdeen be on premier. Would expect Stenhousemuir and Airdrie to be on the BBC.
Ideas when TV games are announced?

Heard were looking at 2/3 loan options for goalkeeper until end of the season, one of them is hungarian keeper at Liverpool . But as everyone already knows nothing can be done until a loan is freed up
if only we didn’t already have an u21 international on our books 🤔
| Dundee United » January Transfer Window » 29/12/2025 9:43 pm |
Any keeper deal should really be in place for 10 Jan as it should be getting worked on now (unless the loan numbers are an issue). If a new goalkeeper isn’t in place by then I think we’re going with what we’ve got as I can’t see us buying a keeper who’s currently playing regularly so anyone we’re buying should be available right away.

Specifically on the not closing the keeper part, that was clearly a management instruction. I presume that Goodwin knows the keeper is so good with the ball that it's better to just close off his passing options rather than close him down directly. It did mean some pretty farcical scenes where he just strolled out from defence under no pressure.

If we want to develop him as a keeper, we can't be dropping him after 1 questionable game where he still made some brilliant saves.
Agree with this, I'm not in the drop him camp for one minute. We'll see where we are at the end of the season, mind he's here next season too.

Need to stick with the keeper, there’s a lot he does right, he’s a long way from being Birighitti level. He just needs to be taught when to come and when to stay on his line. That’s something he can be drilled on in training until he learns, but he is a fantastic shot stopper, much better with the ball than Walton and him playing as a sweeper keeper allows us to play higher up and thus a better brand of football, just needs to learn when to stay and when to go.
The team as a whole though is the best we’ve had since the 2013/14 season with Gauld, Robertson, Ciftci etc. That will tell over the piece.
not a dig at you, if anyone expects Kuch to change his style of play they will be sorely disappointed. Expect superman punches to continue.

If we know its a lighter then there is no reason for anyone to be holding a lighter in the ground. Anyone fragile enough to throw any object for any reason needs a ban.
Seems some folk think its ok to dig out abuse to players for 90 mins but as soon as something comes back they start crying.

Scott Burns pouring cold water on this one. Saying his wages are way out with what Utd can afford.
It doesn't look like any new signings are imminent despite Goodwin saying he expected two more in for the Falkirk game.
Really disappointing tbh.
The player himself aside, I find that comment a bit strange from Burns regarding wages. Either our budget is extremely low despite so many outgoings and European football which would be really disappointing or just exactly how much are Hearts overpaying him??
i saw the hearts first team photo today, 31 players in it (plus another 2 today?) & Dhanda didn’t look happy

Why is the Aberdeen game abandoned and we're not getting an extra day post Euro game??
Is Aberdeen's euro game in the play off round rather than a qualifier ? and the SPFL allow a club to postpone1 league game which falls in the same window as the euro match.
so we can't do this for Rapid as its still a qualifying round but could do it if we get into the round after as its play off.
Might have this wrong of course.
