I’d be majorly pissed off if Ferry goes to Celtic for anything less than £1.8m. I’m really praying Anderlecht come in with a bid tomorrow.

I wouldn’t sell him to Celtic for £800k. If push comes to shove they can get him on a free at the end of his contract. If he’s not happy, too bad. He has to understand the club’s position too.

Limited credit to Ross Goodwin. Sevelj was signed long before he joined and Ferry signed a few days after he joined.

If anyone thinks J.Goodwin will get £600k for signings unfortunately they are living in cloud cuckoo land. Incomings will go to servicing the debt to the owner, with a little bit of headroom available for extra wages for new signings.

All the more reason we as fans should be hounding him out of the club. I don’t care even a tiny bit about the money he has put it in. He made terrible decisions as an owner and lost money because of them.  He has also likely written off far more than the debts he thinks we owe him on tax benefits from his own personal incomings.

People frequently think Ogren is making money from his other businesses and can just “write off” his losses against money he is making elsewhere. The reality is you have to make profits to write losses off against.

Ogren sold off pretty much all the family business (Gas distribution, forecourt franchises and holding in sports franchises), to “have fun”.

That leaves OPG-3 Inc a private company which develops software to systemise filing in big organisations. Estimated turnover $5.8m, fewer than 20 employees. Even if we assume it makes a GP of 20% that is only $1.1m. If you factor in software investment it may not be making a profit at all.

Cedar Road Perth Ltd (property company) was dissolved in April this year without making any
investments.

OPG-4 Ltd was largely a holding company

So he is left with (£7.5) soft loan, add to that professional services fees, he could easily be down £9million from his “fun” Scottish venture. What else is he g

If we lose ferry and sev at the end of the window I fear we will be losing a lot of the experience and drive from the team.

Between the two of them, you’d have to think we’d be getting the best part of £3m. Surely to fuck Ogren can hand over £6-700k of that for a late flurry of signings? “The player trading model” has to work both ways. The best way of getting big fees for your players is by having a successful team on the park.

They talk about adopting a trading model, but do they realise that the main priority of running a football club is to try and win games and trophies?

It seems that all the management want to do is bring in players and move them on for a profit, but at what cost to the club itself?

Recently, there have been rumours about Esselink, Agyei, Ferry, Iovu, Sapsford and now Eskesen being sold.  I get that these are all currently rumours, apart from Ferry, but if some of these are true, it will leave us short of cover for some positions.

Instead of the players mentioned above, could we not have rumours about Miller Thompson, Metsoko, Jim Goodwin and Mark Ogren being sought after by other clubs?

To Mark Ogren, the club was an investment.

For him, it is a “failed investment”

He needs to pay down as much debt as he can before attempting to exit. The player trading model is probably a better idea than the Asgharian model of developing an endless succession of young players and selling them to EPL clubs. Either way Ogren needs to recoup as much money as he can to pay down his debt.

The fact much of this was his own fault, is irrelevant. This is what happens when fans don’t own clubs. In my opinion, we, the fans need to come up with a proposal to buy Ogren out at a market value. Everything else is merely talk

5 defeats and 4 on the spin next week would have to signal the end of the road for Messers Goodwin.

No clean sheets registered against any of the Premiership sides and only one (fortunate) goal scored should put the fear into everyone.

It's very early in the season, granted. But we've all seen the attributes of what makes for a relegation haunted side and right now we are ticking every box.

We endured last season. It was pretty hellish to watch. There was no togetherness, bond or unity in any of the teams Goodwin fielded.

We got away with it because, Livingston were doomed from the start, Aberdeen were indescribably shite, St Mirren were poor and Dundee were ….. Dundee. That will not happen this season. We cannot wait to see what happens.

What I really wanted to see was a change in the coaching team. Nothing. All these guys retain their jobs.

We know the problem. It’s not Goodwin, it’s Ogren. By the time he realises we’re in trouble it will be too late. People are already beginning to vote with their feet.

On paper looks like a good signing. His data has him as being not dissimilar to Ferry. Got his first cap recently so will be hungry for more.

I have been impressed by our recruitment this summer, we’ve been very proactive and seem to identified the profiles we wanted rather than just hang about and see what shite becomes available down south at the end of the window like the fun are doing.

I caveat that by saying I was also impressed by our recruitment this time last summer too.

Only leaves us really needing one or two more at best. I’d still like to see an experienced leader at centre half brought in, but that’s probably easier said than done. And maybe at a push, another striker, as we only have two in Rose and Metsoko. I don’t count Sapsford as he’s way more effective as an inside forward than as a number 9.

My sentiment too. I vividly recall the excitement and anticipation of the Rapid game at Tanny. The bigger question is what Goodwin had learned from last season. My big disappointment is that we haven’t replaced our head of Sports Science. I really hope we don’t have a string of hamstring injuries.

I’m the same. I really want this deal done. The window of opportunity is getting tighter by the day. £1.7 is a huge sum for the club (and Ogren). His value is only what someone is willing to pay for him. Ultimately he is depreciating asset. We need this done now.

Seems to be a popular opinion again that kids just need to play football at a young age and not worry about winning.  Only seems like a very short time ago everyone was saying the opposite - kids should not be rewarded for just taking part, we need to teach them competitive spirit etc etc.

I don't know what the answer is, having a national association and league that does everything to pander towards two clubs has to be the root of our issues though.

When you look at the quality of footballer being produced and the quality of results relating to small comparable countries it's clear that Scotland has fallen by the wayside. But it's also fair to say the manager has completely failed to get the best out of our own players in 3 successive tournaments.

You have nailed the problem - this small country and parochial mentality that revolves around the game's administrators and the two Glasgow clubs.

The country needs grass roots investment into indoor facilities (and outdoor) where football can be played and coached 365 days and investment into good European coaches to develop our talent in the right way. Coaches from Scandanavia, France, Spain etc, coaches who understand how to turn raw talent into international standard footballers.

We need to get rid of Scott Gemmill as Under 21 manager and replace him with a respected coach with a history of developing talent.

There's more we need to do but I won't bother typing it because the authorities don't care sufficiently to spend the money it would take. (I believe they have however financed a new stadium for the two big Glasgow ladies clubs)
They only really care about the continuation of the Celtic/Sevco domination of Scottish football.

Nothing will change. I fully expect someone like Steven Naismith or Duncan Ferguson will get the job. Depre

Clarke, in my opinion, probably did the best with what he had. We can all argue about player selections and tactics till the cows come home.

Football evolves and changes: nutrition, performance psychology, training techniques, philosophies etc. Our approach never adapts: Indulge the foreign coach for a few years, then dump him if he fails to qualify for the next tournament and appoint a Scottish coach.

If you look at the backroom staff of other national teams, it is quite revealing: USA has 3 mental coaches (that’s not including psychologists). Most other nations have at least one athletic coach. The Netherlands have 3 “opponent” coaches. What do we have? Naismith, Alan Irvine Chris Woods and a few other Scottish bods who I have never heard of.

If I was the SFA, I would consider giving a foreign coach ( Hjulmand) two World Cup cycles to establish a dominant “philosophy” i.e. a dominant style of play. He would have to figure out the best way to develop a youth programme.

If we go for Moyes, I can pretty much name the backroom team : Billy McKinlay, Alan Irvine, Charlie Adam, David Weir.

If no European coach wants the job, I would consider Postecoglou.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing time and time again and getting same same (shit) result.

Doesn't make it any more palatable tbh. It was actually a scotsman who showed the Brazilians how to play football in the first place too, that shit is coming back to haunt us again on Wednesday 😂

A joking aside, there is a theme here.

Brazil 5 WC wins, Germany 4 WC wins, Italy 4 WC wins.

Ignoring Brazil, Germany lost 2 World Wars, Italy lost the World War 2. They faced adversity which we couldn’t imagine. In the 1930’s Italy was so poor many people walked from Monte Casino to Scotland.

Japan also lost WW2 and rebuilt. Japan has a 100 year plan to win the WC and are currently ranked 15th

Maybe adversity breeds a desire to learn and a hunger to succeed.

Maybe WE need to learn from others, rather than indulging the “foreign” manager the saying “he doesn’t understand the Scottish game; we need a good Scottish manager”

I think, the older you get, the more this thing eats you up. For me, supporting United consumes enough of my emotional capital so I become rather more objective when it comes to Scotland.

Scotland’s aim is to get out of the group stage for the first time ever. In many respects the bigger question is why we have never done it before? I would dispute that this is the most talented Scottish team to leave our shores. I don’t think it is. What I do think, is that, it the most balanced group of players, with few personal flaws who can grind out results. Watching this Scotland team play is never going to be visually pleasing, however they do have grit and togetherness.

Brazil have qualified. This tournament is a marathon, so, maybe they will conserve their energy against Scotland. As I said yesterday, luck, will always play a part.

As Ally McLeod once said “Scotland is going to educate the world in how to play football”

I fancied them to win it before the tournament started and tonight only cements my fears.

I think if a team scores two, they can score three.

One thing though, they played in the air conditioned Dallas stadium tonight (temp never above 20c apparently). Be interesting how they fare when playing in a hotter city/stadium, as i think it's been a real leveller for some nations.

I would concur with that.

They will need luck (injuries, dodgy VAR decisions, freak weather), but I think the biggest challenge is creating a cocoon around the squad, so that, they are oblivious of the adrenaline infrastructure of pundits, media and expectations.

I think Tuchel can build on what Southgate achieved. Make no mistake, this tournament is a marathon, even the best teams are going to need luck.

Completely agree. It does reinforce my point that if we don’t do well, he will get slaughtered.

It will be up there with the ridicule Goran Erikson got for taking “a small boy, a mobile lamppost and a player with a broken foot” to the World Cup.

As much stick as Clarke gets it sounds like the players absolutely love him. I watched the recent SFA documentary on YouTube and they were all mentioning the speech he gave before the Denmark game and how inspiring it was.

Im amazed at Fletcher getting in to replace Gilmour. That’s a head scratcher. He’s played less than 20 minutes senior football ever?

I think Clarke has always known that he’s on a hiding to nothing in terms of media and public opinion. His dour, somewhat monosyllabic responses just reflect he will be slaughtered at some point.

Let’s be honest, who actually thought playing Grant Hanley was a good idea? He played really well. Clarke believes in continuity, as opposed to playing his best team. It’s easy to underestimate the benefits of the length of time a squad spend together.

We do have a great midfield, however with an aging defence and limited options up front, I still think it will take some exceptional performances for us to qualify for the next round.

As far as Fletcher is concerned I think it simply boils down to the fact that Clarke is more familiar with him as opposed to Lennon Miller.

Fundamentally it is better going for a supplier who is, trying to break into the shirt market, rather than an established one. Established ones get complacent.

Did I say it wouldn't happen?  What I mean to say was Adidas will be heading round to yours with original versions of our old Adidas kits for you to keep (signed by the teams that wore them) and with a full presentation as to why United should let Adidas dream about being our kit supplier for the next 10 years.

They will also give you two special pairs of customised ZX8000's in United colours, one pair to wear and one pair to keep boxed.

Hope that's better.........

So,

1) Original strip.
2) Made in Germany, prior to unification
3) No sponsor
4) Proper drawstrings on shorts

Can I swap the ZX8000s for the adidas tracksuit with the black sleeves and cream body?

Ok, that sounds like a deal.

I was at a number of events organised by the club where Jackie sat down and spoke with the fans. It was only when things turned toxic due to Thompson revealing the details of his contract that he stopped doing them.

I’m sympathetic to this point. He does appear rather detached from the club as an entity. It’s almost as if he sees it as a job to do, then he drives back to East Dunbartonshire to be with his family. If you contrast this with Simo Valikari who lives in Perth and engages with supporters and seems to embrace all aspects of the club.

I do wonder if JG’s lack of immersion in United might have been a reason for our young squad’s poor performance this season? I watched an interview with Rurai Paton recently and he seemed to have a new lease of life under Valikari. My feeling is that dealing with the personal development of young players (especially if they come form overseas) is not one of JG’s strong points. It’s very different from married, senior pros who are Scottish.

I know.

There are far too many things going on to make me believe was is a random outcome. I realised back in October, Rangers seemed to be getting an infinitely elastic number of additional minutes added on if they were behind or drawing. Naturally there were contentious decisions which went for and against each club, but, if I was a jambo today, I would feel utterly scunnered.

I may have mentioned this before, but, the VAR system is corruptable. Quite simply there is billions being bet on every conceivable outcome of a game by unregulated Chinese betting syndicates. If you are betting on the number of minutes of added time, that will never show up through an online bookmaker. In 2008 I recall a Chinese restaurateur telling me the biggest gamblers in Scottish division 2 games were the Chinese.

You don’t even require collusion. Money would not change hands BTC or any equivalent without a regulated exchange is untraceable.

IMO, Livi did not look like doing anything until that moment.

It looks pretty hellish, but, he sustained a bad head injury in the first half (I noticed the blood seeping through the bandage in 1st half). I just wonder if he was marginally concussed but just told the medical staff he was ok?

I think he is an excellent defender, but, like, other defenders his “lapses” in concentration or poor decision making seem to reflect a lack of cohesion within the team. We can talk about lack of communication, but, I think it’s more than that. If you sit there and watch individual player e.g. Naamo, yesterday, it seems that there is a lack of clarity in terms of what he is expected to do. Ferry was telling he do do something, which seemed to be at odds with what he (Naamo) thought he should be doing.

Any great team spends nearly all their waking hours together to achieve a near telepathic understanding of where each player is on the park. We can discuss, selections, formations, tactics till the cows come home, but, I think the problem might be more basic.

I think Goodwin has achieved a lot in the last four games. Beating Celtic was huge. We all know he will be here next season. The more pertinent question is, what has he learned in his in personal development to take into next season?
