Dundee United » Favourite ever goal against every top Scottish club? » 07/6/2025 9:09 am

Aberdeen - Jimmy Mac, Hampden 1994
Celtic - Gary McSwegan
Dundee - Ralphie, what else?
Dunfermline - Jimmy Mac EEP 1997, the ball from Jamie Dolan was ridiculous.
Falkirk - Robson free kick under Levein
Hearts - Iain Ferguson
Hibs - Olofsson's 2nd in the relegation decider
Kilmarnock - Ralphie in the 7-0 ran throught their whole team, twice.
Livi - Our record v them is shocking so any goal in a game we won will do
Motherwell - Brewsters 2nd in the 94 cup game, great build up and finish
Rangers - BROOOOOOOOSTER
St.Johnstone - Derek Lilley, was a a rollercoaster
St.Mirren - Charlie Miller in a 4-0 victory under Alex Smith
Ross County - Conway's 2nd in the final, we were cruising to the cup, but that goal sealed it
Inverness -Shankland, in the Championship in the pissing rain, the night we effectively sealed the title

Probably missed some huge goals or really obvious ones here.

I'd expect a flurry of moves in the next few weeks, contracts ending, players on holiday etc etc

Dundee United » Goodwin - Plymouth » 02/6/2025 3:48 pm

Well if he does go, it won't be Pressley.

So there's that at least.

To take us up decently comfortably, deliver Europe, finish above the club where it ended in disgrace, where he was given the blame for the failings of the players who saw off another manager, he's gone a fair way to restoring his reputation.

Now, money talks, but he'd be moving to a club with high expectations, probably a shit load more pressure.

Even staying with us, consolidating top 6, maybe (We fucking better) get a cup run, his stock only grows.

He could move kinda sideways to Hearts in 12 months as they bin another manager.

Definite starters in tangerine, green i'm be fine with, if we get the right players in other positions.

Of course it's early days, but someone posted an XI with the players we currently have on the books.

I'd wouldn't be able to make a five a side team with guys I'd be happy with starting most games.

We're due half a percent of any fee Liverpool get, should they sell Robertson, according to Twitter.

Do based on the last 18 months or so, we'll get about 20k tops

Not that arsed about a back up goalie, as we already have one.

It's been a week, FFS United, do something.

Gallagher has missed a few games, and has apparently been taking pain killing injections to play.

As admirable as that might seem, ultimately, the fact he's never 100% recovered from the groin? injury has maybe went against him?

Dundee United » Tekel Towers - End of Season Awards » 19/5/2025 2:06 pm

POTY - Vicko Sevelj/Ferry
YPOTY - Luca Stephenson
Signing of the season - Sam Dalby
Unsung Hero - Holt
Goal of the season - Dalby at Dens, the ball from Ferry was brilliant (and it's a last minute seekner)
Game of the Season - 2-1 win vs Aberdeen
Three words to sum up the United side of 24/25 - Determined, Tenacious, Europe.

Saw the Dalby and Stephenson interviews...Stephenson is still under contract at Liverpool so assuming they are happy to loan him again then that feels like a possibility.

Dalby on the other hand, he was asked if playing in Europe appealed to him, he said of course it does, but realistically that's the only answer he could have given, especially at an awards ceremony. I fear money will talk, as it usually does, but let's see!

That's fair, however there were reports last night he said "I might need to make sure my passport is renewed!" and a video of him saying such has emerged.

Now again, it might be the case he's doing as you'd expect, but that was more of a clue than a stock response.

Tiffoney isn't a nailed starter along the road, so not sure of this one.

However, plenty of players move and thrive at a club with a level of expectation.

His stats are better than any of our wingers i'd bet though.

Congratulations, go to Motherwellarab who is this seasons Prediction League Champion

It was a tight race for the title between Motherwellarab, United23 and BMT, which went down to the final day of the season and any of them could have won the title (and the pot of money).

Motherwellarab was pipped to the title last season by BMT on the final match day when Tony Watt scored our 4th goal of the night against Partick Thistle, and whilst it wasn't quite as late a twist as that this year, it was still nonetheless an exciting conclusion to the Prediction League season.

So, once again. Congratulations to Motherwellarab. I have transferred your £75 over earlier tonight (let me know when you receive it please).

Commiserations to both United23 and BMT who finished joint 2nd and at times both led the table.

And a wee word for our most optimistic poster Mr David Blunkett, who predicted 3-0 Utd every week. The only week we won 3-0 (against Ross County at home), he forgot to post his prediction. 😂

So, it was nice to see him finally move off the bottom of the table on the last match day, after being rooted to the bottom for several months.

Thanks to everyone for playing. We go again next season.🫡

Thanks cash received, roll on next season when I win it again

And i'll do it again!

On Walton, my daughter in Law may or may not attend the same beauty salon, as the new Mrs Walton.

Their paths may or may not have crossed.

"Fucking hell, back to fucking Luton, I love it up here!" or words to that effect might've been the sort of things she may or may not have heard.

Not that that means anything, but, happy Wife, happy life and all that.

Part of any pitch invasion, has always almost involved goading of away fans.

You're celebrating, and often at their expense.

Nothing any United fan did today warranted a seat being vandalised and thrown towards them from the away end, luckily it massively backfired on them.

Really hope the Bbc or whatever highlight the two big patches of empty seats in the away end and why.

Their fans have been fucking arseholes for years, looking for trouble, wrecking pubs, throwing shite on the pitch.

Weird speaking, entitled, wankfucks.

If points, goals for, goals against, head to head are tied, then it's a play off, that's all a quick search throws up.

So for instance we lose 4-0, sheep lose 2-0 they'd be on -10 GD, we'd be on -12 GD

But we beat them 1-0. GD is tied, but surely head to head is the first decider?

Dundee United » The disaster that was the January Transfer Window » 12/5/2025 12:43 pm

Just trying to make some sense of it all, possibly adding 2+2 and getting 5 here though.

On paper, Campbell and possibly Fiorini are better players than might be kicking around the top league (who we could afford) and are more first team ready than our youngsters.

So we've taken them on loan with a view to next season, bed them in, give some game time, seen how there are as people, how they integrate within the squad/manager/coaching staff.

None of us have a clue what position Campbell usually plays, because he's trying to fit onto a system that we rarely differ from, unless we're chasing the game, then it all goes a bit Jimmy Calderwood.

But if the plan next season is to play a higher line and with more pace then whatever role we're asking some players to play now will have little bearing on next season?

Or is that too forward thinking for United?

Dundee United » United vs St.Mirren - Saturday 10th May » 12/5/2025 11:23 am

There's been talk of Stephenson playing through the pain barrier since Xmas, and needed an op, the time for Liverpool to cut the deal short was in January when we could've replaced him (Albeit that window was pish for us)

We would've been contributing pennies if anything to his wage, it's not like they'd have been skint if they sorted him out then.

Dundee United » Rangers vs DUFC - Wednesday 14th May » 12/5/2025 12:15 am

Honestly not sure, i'd maybe rest Ferry, Dalby, Sevelj, Docherty, thrown in Campbell, Fiorini, start Van der Sande and Patorn/Moult upfront.

Not expecting anything other defeat, but crucially one eye for us fans anyway is on Pittodrie, we lose 3-0 Aberdeen lose 2-0 and it's still a showdown on Saturday. As defeatist as that sounds it's realism re our current form/injury/confidence standpoint.

Unfortunately, our recent form has us relying on Hibs going to whatever St Mirren's stadium is called this week and doing us a favour.

For all the talk of Celtic taking it easy, resting players for the cup final, they won't want to do anything other than put Aberdeen in their place ahead of the Hampden showdown and they won't have their baffies on, on flag day.

We'd all have bitten hands off for a last day showdown to get Europe, or even be sitting in European spot going into the last game back in August, it's just that so much more could've been had, had we not fallen away.

I think the whole situation was best summed up by this post on Twitter...

I think it's more we earned the right to dream by showing we are capable. The disappointment is we've really fallen away. But form is variable and of course top 6 is better than expected in July but it's not better than what they put in their reach. It's ok to feel frustrated.

Dundee United » United vs St.Mirren - Saturday 10th May » 11/5/2025 11:25 pm

We were shite, however, given how patched up, and off the pace we seemed, we still should've taken the lead, that Dalby header was exactly the chance you want and exactly who you want it to fall to.

Maybe the game plays out the same, but we'd have taken confidence from it, maybe won, maybe only drew.

Not blaming Dalby for the defeat, but it's mental that he could direct that header on target from a pish cross v Hearts, yet miss a bread and butter chance.

Also, the lazy lumps into the box and constant long throws were pointless and never looked like working, Ferry is obviously told to go on throws and I can excuse him for the lumps, he looks fucked, he's playing through the pain.

Very few if any got pass marks yesterday, Docherty isn't gonna be reliable, Sibbald isn't good enough and Manny is still the bombscare that often comes up with the odd plum moment.

Middleton though, bar the cross for Dalby above, it was lazy clipped balls every time, taking no responsibility, there's folk who say he just needs an arm around the shoulder, needs re-assured, well let him do it at St Johnstone or fucking Kelty Hearts.

The manager is not escaping here either, the midfield was pish yesterday, constantly getting overrun, if Harding was fit enough for the bench, he was fit enough to start and it he wasn't able to last or had to come off early, that's when you move Sevelj back there, we lose so much of what we're about when he's not in there.

Rant over......now for a positive moment.

Aberdeen's tanking today set us up for a 90 minute shoot-out on Saturday, I don't expect St Mirren to beat Hibs or take any points v Celtic, so I'm still expecting 5th, but all we need is 1 more 90 minutes, one last performance, from guys who for the most part of the season ran through brick walls and never gave up.

Mon United, into these sheep shagging bastards!
