Re: New Owners ? - American Consortium

I've been sceptical of this in the past and remain so now.

Having said this it'd be interesting to know why anyone without an emotional attachment to the club would invest (they may have a connexion of course - if they exist).

If it does come to pass, and if this is not say an expat with some connexion, I'd be rather worried - the minute they work out it's a money pit (like almost all Scottish clubs) they'll be in talks with their compatriots up the road    😱

Re: New Owners ? - American Consortium

Been in the works for some time now. As I and a few on here have alluded to. It’s further down the line than people realise. Martin was never more than a placeholder, he and Thompson’s association with Dundee United is about to come to a much needed end.

I dont believe this to be true.

Martin will stay in place imo.

He might retain his shares, but the same person who’s been keeping me informed about this takeover for months has categorically stayed that Martin was never intended to be anything other than a temporary placeholder.

Re: New Owners ? - American Consortium

So is it Borthwick who is leading this buy out?

Re: New Owners ? - American Consortium

Guardedly hopeful this is the end game for Thompson, the incompetent Fud, to Fek right off.

As long is this is nothing to do with the Funster brigade. Phuk that.

This has got me more worried than Laslo has.

I don't know a lot, but I know what I like!

Heavily involved and taken on the debt.

Good to hear. Would still be wary about American liaison between the two parties at some stage. But this is all seeming more positive for our future hopefully.

I wouldn’t be too wary. This is ultimately going to save Dundee United.

Barring promotion this season, we were fucked, literally fucked. Without the Americans, it was put to me that we had exhausted every other option financially.

Re: New Owners ? - American Consortium

Thanks, the boys above, who have provided some optimism in a very dour period for the club.

Re: New Owners ? - American Consortium

I was sceptical about this being a season ticket move but after reading Derry Jungle and Arab87’s posts I feel confident this might be the light at the end of the tunnel.

Why no?

Gets a proper manager In and gives him a 10 million quid budget to get out of this shithole league then when we’re back In the SPL gives the gaffer 100  million to buy 20 quality players at 5 million each and we win the league for the next few seasons and maybe some CL groupstage football.

We can all dream

Re: New Owners ? - American Consortium

id be happy with borthwick being involved rather than just a bunch of unknown yanks with no connectons to utd at all.

With a utd fan involved I hope and pray only good can come of this.

Also if what you say regarding martin is true then I am even more happy.

MM set all this up. MM could have potentially saved our club with his connections. MM is a major shareholder and advisor to Hedgeserve who build software for Hedge funds etc. Borthwick is head honcho of international hedge funds.

It's good they're looking at us & not Brechin then, thought that would have been a natural...
