Look's like we won't be signing a new goalkeeper then:

Dundee United today announced the signing of German goalkeeper Luis Zwick. The 21 year old has signed a two year professional contract, having previously been registered as an amateur.
Luis enhanced his reputation whilst playing for the Development Squad last season and is now viewed as one of the contenders for the first team goalkeeper’s position for the 2015/16 campaign. He was an unused substitute against Partick Thistle in February 2015.
Goalkeeping coach Craig Hinchliffe said, “Luis fully deserves his contract. His story is fantastic and shows how determination and desire mixed with ability can achieve goals.
“He is an excellent technical goalkeeper – a modern goalkeeper if you like, fantastic with the ball at his feet – and has proved he has the mental strength to succeed. He is one of three goalkeepers at the Club who have the opportunity to prove they merit the first team goalkeeper’s jersey. We have chosen to not give out the ‘1’ squad number because we have three goalkeepers all capable of playing in the Scottish Premiership and over pre season, one will prove to me they deserve the jersey.”
Luis joined United in June 2014 as an amateur and showed his application to the task by working through an initial bout of homesickness and language barriers to put himself on the radar of the coaching staff with excellent training performances and then within Development Squad games.
A delighted Luis said, “I have worked very hard to show my ability and I am delighted and proud to sign as a professional for United.
“I have improved greatly in my time here and was aware that continued hard work and playing well would see an opportunity to move into the first team squad. My target is to now play games, continue my development and make an effort to secure the goalkeeper’s jersey for the first team.”

Can't judge as I haven't seen him enough but, from what I have seen, and if they're not going for experience, McCallum would be my no 1 by a mile.

Dont like this bit about the No. 1 Jersey. WTF is goin on here. Are we gonna play all 3 of them at once.

Totally agree bugsy, has to be McCallum starting, if no one else comes in.

So let me get this right.
Szromnik =92 minutes 1st team football
McCallum = 90 minutes 1st team football
Zwick - 0 minutes 1st team football
2 of these keepers were at Tannadice last season but Jackie was never tempted to play them or recall McCallum at anytime despite Rado having regular howlers.
And we're not having a squad number 1 as were not sure who's the best out of them and we'll gauge it during pre-season.
Wow.Just wow.

This is beginning to sound like the No. 1 monumental faux-pas.

Three keepers fighting for the number one jersey, I hope to see it bringing the best out in them with one taking the jump and not looking back. Players don't have to be proven before they play for us, some of the best players at United haven't arrived at Tannadice with a proven reputation or been dead certs to succeed at youth level. Will reserve any judgement until any of them have had a fair crack at the whip which none have had yet.

Obviously everyone should be reserving judgement until we see a run of games but can't help but be worried. Our back 4 looked unsure of itself last year with Rado and his lack of command. Is a 21 year old lad with no first team experience going to be any better?

I'm all for giving youth a chance...but all at the same time ??for the one position in the team you really need to be consistent week in week out??
And playing behind Morris-Durnan..a young new Centre Half pairing?
It just once again seems so short-sighted imo.
I really wish Jackie would do something,ANYTHING that i could say 'good move Jackie' or 'i can see his thinking there',but i can't be positive like some of you guys just for the sake of it.
As Davie Blunkett said in another thread....4 games to assess 3 keepers...so 1 full game each lol WTF!!

Agree it's not fair to slag the young boys off without giving them a chance and it's great we've got such prospective young GK talent but it seems absolute madness to me if that's all we're going into the new season with. Need at least one experienced pro IMO and this situation really worries me. That's absolutely no disrespect to these lads and I really do hope they prove all the doubters (including myself in that) wrong but I have to say I'm not confident in the slightest. Young talent is fantastic but where are they learning from when there's not a seasoned pro alongside them? And yes I know we have GK coaches etc but not the same thing IMO. Again, seriously makes me question JMs sanity!!!

It does give me the fear not having an experienced keeper to help the younger ones. Hopefully there is a method in Jackie's thinking...
